I missed this one when I was in Atlanta, sold out before I could come back for it, but found it up here in CT after relocating.
Pours a pale yellow, nice and clear. Two fingers of white head on the pour that reduced to a thinnish layer. Little lacing.
A good mix of pilsner malt and noble hop aromas. A slight funk of the sour brett, but, frankly, its quite weak. I think the flavor follows suit. Not nearly as tart as the nuclear mushroom cloud on the label would seem to indicate, in fact its quite subdued. Fairly clean flavor really, some sourness. The slightest bits of old hay and flairs of hop on the finish with a bit of chalkiness. No hints of the alcohol level, at all.
Thinnish mouthfeel that finishes a touch dry, as expected. Prickly carbonation on the tongue. These things are how I would expect them.
I think the beer is okay, but I think nowadays when someone is marketing a sour beer it should be a little more bold, maybe more age would allow the brett more time to work on this; this was Batch 1 from June '07. This is a very pale beer that is relying totally on the brett to make it good, and I just don't think the character is there yet. Even though I say that, I guess it is fairly drinkable given its more subdued flavor and light body. To wrap it up, easy to drink, but not overly memorable.

Bottled June 2007. Batch #1.
A: golden orange hued. Frothy head.
S: barn aroma. Smells dry. House saddle.
T: little bit of bubblegum flavor. Minor oxidation? Touch of grain is fleeting before Brett dryness takes over.
M:ample carb on a medium body.
D: aged well. Wish there was more Brett and farm funk. If you still have any drink up, I don't see this getting any better.
