Brewed in 1998, Centenniale commemorated the 100th anniversary of the New York State Historical Association.
Hops grown at the farmers museum in Cooperstown were used in the Hennepin-based recipe.

Pours hazy, dark gold, with a moderate amount of white particulates. A white head of a half-inch rose with an aggresive pour, and settled with a porous, almost rocky surface.
The foam cap receded to a skim coat within four minutes revealing streaks and threads of lacework.
Aromatics are fruity and jammy. Red grapes and candied orange segments lead off. Lemon zest, pineapple skin, and candied apple develope as well. A hint of vineousity comes forward as well as cherry must and a hint of butterscotch.
The mouthfeel is light and subdued. Carbonation has tapered off slightly, but still crisp.
The pallet is zesty and lightly spicy. Malt charater is minimal, and wheat tartness is in the forefront. Earthy tones and mellowed spicing add plenty of depth, with bitterness to balance. Hints of coriander, white pepper, anise, field grass, and kaffir leaves step out from yeasty overtones.
Finishes very dry and crisp with a lingering citrus tartness.
Only a trace of wet paper nods at oxidation, but I feel Saisons in general hide it well.

Big karma goes out to Delerium for hooking me up with this rarity, and Randy Thiel for the background.
