A: Solid black with a muddy brown bottom edge. Clumpy mocha head, decent retention, very sticky lacing
S: Chocolate smell is pretty strong, as expected. Powder cocoa, milk chocolate. Not much else to it besides that - pretty delicious smell.
T: Slight sweetness up front, but not as much as I was expecting. Surprising hop character in the finish, an earthy hop bitterness in the back sides of the tongue. The sense of chocolate is far greater in the smell than in the taste. Gets better as it warms.
M: A tad metallic in the aftertaste. There is an astringency that comes up front right away, but doesn't last long. Carbonated, not as smooth/mellow on the tongue as I would expect.
D: With a name like "Chocolate Indulgence", I was expecting more of a velvety-smooth taste than I got. It is a tad bright for a stout/dark ale. It is a good beer, but not worth the $16 price tag for a 25.4 bottle of it.
