Authentic Flemish sour red ale brewed in Belgium at Bockor Brewery and imported to the US. The beer is spontaneously-fermented and aged at least 18 months in French oak casks. It's an unblended "grand cru-style" Flemish sour red ale. Draft only, and an amazingly pleasurable drink.

On tap at Stub and Herb.
Poured into a tulip glass. Dark dark ruby in color. About 1/2 finger of off-white/tan head that has decent retention and displays a little bit of lacing. Eventually shrinks to a small ring.
The nose is unripened fruit, mainly cherry, grapes and raspberries. A light woody character that I can only assume is oak rounds out the aroma.
Sour and tart, just like it should be. Right on par with the nose as far as flavors go, but mouthpuckeringly sour. Good stuff.
Sour and tart, a light carbonation and light bodied. Drinability is very high. I could drink these all day (and remain sober) if only not for the price tag.
Overall, this is easily my favorite beer from Ommegang. I am very very impressed and glad I ordered this.

Pretty beer, red, bright, 1/4" off white head. Aroma had lots of wood, what seemed like a medley of berries.
Hit the cherry and sour notes prominently. The sour wasn't overly acetic like in some flanders stuff, hit the wood and clean lactic sour spots. Nothing sugary here.
Well made, I wonder why they don't anymore? Had the sourness of an American, and the oak of Europe.

2008 vintage. On tap at Kickbacks in Jax. Poured into a snifter. White head, low retention on a clear mahogany body. Aroma jumps out of the glass and includes tart cherry, tart green apple, slight malt sweetness, some port. Taste follows closely with the aromas and is maybe the most mouth puckeringly tart beer I've ever head. Quite satisfying and very delicious. Wow.
