750 ml bottle poured into a Burley Oak snifter (bottled on 7/4/12)
A: Muddy and murky dark brown with minimal head that vanishes immediately. Fair amount of visible carbonation.
S: Musty, sour, funky and tart. Apples all the way with some rotten cherries.
T: Good level of sour/tartness. Quite refreshing and very light on the palate with only a slight aftertaste. Tart apples and sour cherries. There isn't much complexity here though but that isn't bad.
M: Nice bit of carbonation. Not very noticeable but there in a light and good way.
O: A solid good-tasting Oud Bruin and the best one I have had so far. Also, the best Ommegang I've had so far but it is only the second one.

750 ml bottle into signature tulip glass, best before 6/4/2012. Pours slightly hazy dark reddish brown color with a 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with solid retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of tart cherry, green apple, raisin, cranberry, pear, brown sugar, toast, red wine vinegar, hay, straw, musty funk, light leather, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of malt and fruity/funk yeast ester notes; with good strength. Taste of lightly tart cherry, green apple, cranberry, raisin, pear, brown sugar, hay, straw, light clove, red wine, white vinegar, light leather, light funk, and yeast earthiness. Fair amount of fruity/earthy tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of lightly tart cherry, cranberry, green apple, raisin, plum, pear, brown sugar, red wine, white vinegar, hay, straw, light leather, light funk, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and complexity of malt and fruity/funky yeast flavors; with a great malt/yeast balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and lightly slick/syrupy mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice Flemish brown ale. All around good balance and complexity of dark malt and fruity/funky yeast flavors; and very smooth to sip on with the light acidity. A very enjoyable offering.
