Corked bottle

Orangish amber

Smells earthy

Fizz and foam fill the mouth

Spices up front, which fades to a pleasant malty aftertaste

Sweet Belgian yeast lingers in the mouth

This beer makes me happy that I drink craft beer.

I’ll have another.

A- This is simply an excellent looking beer! Hazy with lots of suspended yeast, this has a beautiful amber color. The head is also brilliant looking, starting out about two fingers thick and slowly settling into a very nice pillow like cap over the brew. There appears to be mellow carbonation and the lacing is good too, with lots of sticky foam clinging to the glass. This will be as fine looking a beer as one will find on the market in my opinion!

S- The aromas are full of spice and citrus notes....in particular, tangerine or orange rind and ripe banana, blended with clove, cinnamon and even hints of black pepper. There is a subtle malt sweetness to break all of this up and the finish has a mild hop bitterness. Overall, I find the aroma to be mild yet distinctive.

T- The flavors are quite different than I imagined after smelling this. It is quite dry, and there is a potent blend of spice, yeasty biscuits, and bitterness. Slightly fruity as well, with notes of apple and banana. The dry bitterness carries straight through into the aftertaste, requiring more sips!

M- Again, this is very dry....the Earthiness of the spice and the bitterness of the hops are very fresh on the palate. The body, while leaning towards medium, is definitely lighter than I anticipated. Also, the carbonation is fine, providing for a smooth drinking beer.

O- I think this is a very decent beer, and is a great version of the style. Fruity, spicy, yeasty...this one has it all. The booze factor is noticeable to a degree as well. I can't honestly say it's my favorite type of beer to be drinking, but I think it's very deserving of it's rating. Would I drink this again...yes, but I'd drink this one only on occasion. I agree with the website that this would add a little something to a saucy meal such as chili!

12oz bottle into a tulip.

Pours a slightly hazy medium amber with a thick rocky two finger head. You can definitely tell it was bottle conditioned.

Aroma has loads of Belgian spicyness from bubblegum, to banana, to clove. Has a certain yeast character as well.

The flavor continues the spicy, yeasty character with clove and bubblegum. Decent malt backbone and a slightly sticky finish.

Overall, a decent but not spectacular beer. I would like to revisit it sometime, though.
