Poured into a tall pilsner glass with a healthy 3 and a half fingers of beige head with dense frothy bubbles. Nice hazy amber color with medium carbonation bubbles coming up from the bottom.

Smells yeasty with hints of citrus and hops. Nice spicy aroma as well. It does not taste as hoppy or citrusy as the aroma suggests, but those notes are still present presenting just the slightest bitterness. The dominate notes come from the elusive spiciness which reminds me of a dark cinnamon tobacco. Very tasty.

Nice mouthfeel, not too harsh, but one may feel the carbonation and spiciness going down. For as much flavor as this beer contains, there is surprisingly no aftertaste at all, which saddens me just a bit... Not that I won't have another!

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass.

A: GREAT amber/red color to it. Not a whole lot of head, and no real lacing, but the color is awesome. I did let it sit for about 30 seconds, which might have been the problem.

S: Slightly metallic, which is the one thing I really don't like about the beer. A little hint of sweetness helps, though, and the Belgian malts end up shining through.

T: Barely sweet, a little bit of spice from the hops... I like the taste of Rare Vos a lot. This is what brings me back to it every so often.

M: Decent, but I wish it had more body. Also tends to feel sharp in the back of the mouth, which bothers me.

O: Not a bad beer. For some reason, the second time I've had it (about 6 mos. after the first) isn't as good. I may revisit this one eventually.

Pours a deep clear amber, orange with a thick two finger off white head that slowly settles into a thick cap with moderate lacing.

Aroma of caramel, bready malt and spice.

Taste followed the nose with sweet caramel, malt, spice and slight citrus bite.

Mouth Feel is medium leaning light body, moderate carbonation, well balanced, crisp with a little tingle to the palate.

Overall this is a very nice drinkable Belgium ale from Ommegang.

Poured from the 1 pt 9.4 fl oz bottle into a tulip glass. A real good solid pop off the cork. Packaged February 25th 2011, best by February 2012.

A real nice golden hue glowing orb amber and orange off the body, with a big light off white foamy head. Forms nicely off the side glass edge pour, real nice looking beer.

Nose is a great mix of Belgian malt and some toasted malt character. Some mild brown spices, clove, nutmeg, but a little faint very nice.

Toasty wine like sensation. Front palate is prickly carbonated with light banana. Brown roasting finish with a good chewy malt backbone. Good sense of crispness and semi dry.

Overall the beer seems to vary all over but never messy or out of kilter. Quite enjoyable.

This is such a good brew. I've had it multiple times including straight from the source in Cooperstown, NY. Pours a clear amber color with a decent sized white head that retains well. Moderate lacing. Aroma is toasty, fruity, spicy...enticing. Tastes of fruits, primarily apricots and bananas. Slight malty taste and a good amount of spice. Well-balanced. A touch of yeasty flavor. Not overly complex...done very well.

Medium mouthfeel. Moderate carbonation. VERY drinkable. I should have this again soon because writing this is making me want some. Recommended!

Poured into my Chimay chalice

Appearance: orange/amber, creamy half finger head that quickly dissipates; cloudy sediment; great lacing.

Smell: Belgian yeast dominates with cherries and figs; very floral.

Taste: fruity, woody, cloves. A dry, sparkling finish.

Mouthfeel: medium, abundant carbonation; really coats the tongue.

Overall: Very smooth, rich tasting. Hearty. A lot of pride went into this Sly Fox. Recommended.
