Pours a hazy orange color into Duvel tulip with good half inch head and smells of yeast and citrus. Mmmm sweet yeasty Belgian-like goodness with a bit of orangey citrusness among the yeasty floaters. Very, very good example of Belgian style brewed in the states. Great mouthfeel and great find, will enjoy this fully and keep my eyes out for more from Ommegang.

750 (bottled 2/25/2011; best by 2/2012) into a tulip. Pours a nice slightly hazy amber w/ effervescent carbonation, fluffy off-white head that leaves some sticky sparkly lacing. A really nice looking beer.

Aroma is Belgian yeast, clean malt, spice, clove, and a hint of ripe banana.

Taste follows nose. Clean water, bready malt, Belgian yeast, spice, mellow banana. Some wheaty hefeweizen qualities too.

Creamy mouthfeel, carbonation adds a nice crisp bit but never prickly.

Overall I'm not finding many flaws with this beer. It's just a damn satisfying, easy drinking brew.

Corked pop with a bit of smoke. Big bubbly tanish head arises as you poor with plenty of lacing.

Nice fresh beer scent. Quite a reddish copper hue.

The beer is highly carbonated, and that's got nice clean crisp taste. Your ass is kicked by the amount of flavor. This 'pale' ale is nearly like a quasi-porter or dark ale in intensity. It has an almost sour quality. I am more into a darker sweeter ale myself. But one thing this is damn refreshing. IPA lovers would orgasm on this stuff.

As for mouth feel its pretty good albeit the super high bubbly carbonation.

I will buy other Ommegang, Gnomegang for example, instead of this again. Quality is there though. A good sipper for a summer day though.

This beer goes down good with a jazzy little effort like Grover Washington's Winelight or Mr. Magic.
