A: The beer is hazy pale yellow in color and has a light to moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger high white head that died down, consistently leaving a thin head covering the surface and some lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of pale malts and fruity yeast are present in the nose.
T: Like the smell, the taste has flavors of pale malts and fruity yeast along with notes of spices towards the finish. It's not sweet, but there are some candi sugar-like flavors.
M: It feels medium-bodied and slightly dry on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer lacks the complexity of some of the good beers in the style but is still pretty good and quite drinkable considering its strength.

Poured into a large tulip glass a peach infused golden with a large fluffy white head that took its time coming down leaving brokin globs of lace behind. The aromas were quite citrusy with the phenols lending some spice but they didnt overpower.Light spiced phenols start the ou in the flavor profile some grainy notes, the citrusy hops really take over about halfway and linger in a nice finish.I wouldnt think the alcohol content was so high because it goes down easy without any alcohol sting, its a great food friendly beer.

Gnomegang by Brewery Ommegang New York, Belgian Strong Pale Ale 9.5% alcohol. This Corked and Caged 750ml bottle poured into a oversized wine glass.

A- Produces a fluffy off white head that slowly desipates to a half inch leaving patchy lacing on the rim of the glass. Hazy orange and firery red when light passes through it, quite the spectacle.

S- Smells of rich and musky Belgian yeasty notes followed by sweet over ripe pears. Light notes of sharp alcohol sting the nose.

T-M- Taste upfront is a yeast and alcohol flavored warmth. As the beer warms up I found that the flavors of pear, bannanas, and tangy hop bite come into place. All and all this is a yeasty Belgian Strong Pale Ale at it prime, that being said... I love it! With its multi complexities of fruit flavors, to its musky yeast notes, and alcohol warmth that is what makes this a winner in my book. Mouthfeel is moderately carbonated with bubbles that tingle the tongue with help of the alcohol. Smooth with a sharp punch.

Overall this beer is everything it promises in the long run. A strong Belgian Pale that produces the lasting flavor and feel that they have for years and years... cheers!

A - Hazy golden color, moderate white head that fades quickly leaving a coating of foam on top and a bit of lacing. Low to moderate carbonation, would like a bit more to keep the head around longer.

S - Spicy phenols, some clove, yeast, with a touch of sweet tropical fruit. Good, but a bit muted.

T - Lots of pale malt, there is a flavor of tropical fruit but it doesn't come across at sweet. Lots of spicy characteristics from the yeast which is nice and not overpowering in any way. Ends with a touch of alcohol, just as a large Belgian beer should. What it lacks in aroma it more than makes up for in taste.

M - Highly attenuated, lets the carbonation and alcohol cause a tingle on the tongue, finishing with a bit of warmth from the alcohol. Very pleasing.

O - When I saw and smelled the beer, I was slightly disappointed as I though this was a sure winner. Once I tasted it, my disappointment disappeared, it is a winner indeed. I have a feeling a bit of aging would up the carbonation slightly and make this even better.

A: Slightly cloudy golden orange, nice white head, with nice lace

S: Slightly fruity belgian yeast, wheat malt and little to no hops

T/M: Belgian yeast with its banana and cloves, very light bodied for a beer so strong, finishes a little dry

O: I liked this beer a lot, Im very happy with the half case that I bought, Ommegang makes great Belgian beer in NY

In a tulip the beer was a hazy orange color. The head was white and very thick, resembling whipped cream. A good amount of lace.
Fruity, yeasty aroma. Some spice.
The taste improved on the aroma. Sweet pear, clove, earthy yeast.
I thought there was an excellent balance between the fruit and the yeast.
A very pleasant beer to drink. Never noticed the alcohol.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 750ml corked and caged bottle into a tulip glass. The label has a nice description of the beer and it lists the abv at 9.5%.

Appearance: The body has a tan/blonde color with a heavy haze and some light brown sediment floating around near the bottom of the glass. On top there is an off white cap of foam that slowly settles and makes some nice slick lacing on the glass.

Smell: There is a big classic Belgian yeast character coming to the nose. With it comes fruit, funk and wet hay mixed with some sweet bready malt and solid notes of floral/spicy hops.

Taste/Palate: It started with a nice base of sweet bready malt and yeast with a light touch of funk and wet hay. Inside this are some nice fruity notes as well and I get white wine grapes, light unripe peach and mild orange blossom. This is all backed up by a firm floral and spicy hop bitterness that adds a pleasant balance and dryness to the finish. It’s well balanced on the palate and fun to drink.

Notes: Overall it is an outstanding Belgian which to me seems to fits somewhere between a Blond and a Triple. Also of note here is the very well hidden 9.5% abv.

The look is very pale with a nice lace nothing to special.

The aroma is fruity with apple and a slight citrus with yeast backing.
The taste is carbonation and a mix of yeast upfront.. The yeast is spicy and leaves a slight candy flavor. All other flavors are subdued as the beer seems unbalanced.

750ml brown corked and caged brown bottle with no freshness date.

LOOK: Thin off-white lace, shiny golden color.

SMELL: Papaya, mango, yeast, alcohol, pineapple, crackers, herbal, bandaid, spearmint, spicy alcohol.

TASTE: Very smooth, moderate body, estery alcohol, semi-creamy, clean pale maltiness, slight hoppiness, orange peel, blonde tobacco, yeast, ripe fruit, more alcohol, phenolic, semi-dry finish.

Big bold blonde, perhaps not hugely complex it has its way with the palate regardless. Dare is say "dangerously drinkable" ... it is. Good times rolling with this bottle.

Two of my favorite breweries, one of my favorite styles, been looking out for this ones arrival...$13.99 @ deCicco's in Ardsley, NY, typical Ommegang presentation, caged and corked, has bottled on, and best before info stamped on the neck of the bottle, but both dates are smudged and hard to read...2-15-11? and ?/?/13 ?

Pours slightly hazed dull tangarine, lively and large off white head, that stays forever, goes to a decent maraingue and leaves ample fine strands of lacing.

Fresh tropical fruit, lime, ginger and pepper in the vibrant nose.

Tasty, zesty, flavorful BSPA, more waves of pleasing tropical fruits, fresh ginger, moderate pepper and again lime. Yeast o' plenty in the final pour, adds complexity and nuttyness.

C'mon this one is two good to be a one off...gonna stock up on a few bottles...Belgian lovers go get some and enjoy...

Poured into a Chimay Chalice

Appearance: 1/4 inch head that goes quick, cloudy, bright orange/yellow in color, some sediment, moderate carbonation

Smell: light Belgian spices and apple

Taste: apple, grass, honey, light Belgian spices

Mouthfeel: slightly sweet with some funk, medium bodied, medium carbonation.

Overall: Super clean and drinkable. Light and funky. This one wows me more with its smoothness than its overall taste. Just complex enough to make me want more, but not one of my favorites from a very solid brewery.

On tap at the Flying Saucer on the Lake.

The beer pours an orange color with a white head. The aroma is a mix of Belgian yeast with some orange citrus and lemon notes mixed in. The flavor is more of the same. I get some orange and lemon notes as well as some flowers, possibly from the hops. The Belgian yeast and a little bit of alcohol are also present in the flavor, as well as some spice. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.
