The beer pours a very nice light copper color with a perfectly white head that is two finger-widths.

The aroma is hoppy with some banana mixed with some floral notes.

Sweet initial taste was sweet with some of the banana present. The middle presented some subtle hoppiness that remains sweet. The finish of the beer remains sweet with a touch of the alcohol remaining at the very end.

The mouth-feel is a little dry with a nice level of carbonation.

Overall, this beer lived up to my expectations. I am a fan of the Ommegang brewery and I like le Chouffe so when I saw the le Chouffe gmomes dancing on an Omegong bottle, I had to try it. This is a sweet blonde ale with some great spicing. The blend of spices is so balanced that it is difficult to pick out individual flavors. In short, this was an excellent blonde ale to sample around the holidays.

A reviewer below reviewed Gnomegang on 12/7/14. They defined the beer as a "bit too hoppy for my liking." Also feeling that the hop content was not harmonious with a belgian yeast profile. I see a contradiction in thought process here. To say that the beers harmony is compromised by the hop profile, demonstrates some palate savvy, along with the ability to produce an articulate insight. A very useful quality. However, to say that it's too hoppy for their liking, leads me to believe that they are part of the Shock Top crowd, thus should not be rating a beer like this. Consequently, they shouldn't be indoctrinating themselves into craft beer by drinking Gnomegang. Rather, they should start with something like Yuengling, or however the heck you spell it. Gnomegang is not hop forward, not by any stretch. Drink seltzer.

Spectacular array of belgian flavor. Poured half of the 12oz bottle into a tulip and an astounding amount of head came out. So good...so good. Pronounced blonde ale speciness like a leffe, floral sweet ester aroma. hazy golden color.high 9.5 abv. Sweet finish typical of the Belgians low IBUS.

Poured from bottle into a snifter

Appearance – The beer pours a clear golden colored beer with a thick and big three finger white head that has fantastic retention. The head slowly fades over a long time to a fantastic level of lacing.

Smell – The nose of the beer is sweet and fruity with heavy notes of banana, citrus, pear, and some darker fruit aromas. Mixed with the sweet are tons of yeasty smells and a good hearty aroma of a bready nature as well as some spice aroma of a big clove and lighter coriander smell.

Taste – The taste follows the nose quite well. A sweet fruit and bready taste greet the tongue initially. At the start, the sweet is largely of the lighter fruits of banana, pear, and some apple. As the taste advances however the fruit flavors transition more toward citrus with some dark fruit notes within. While this transition occurs the yeasty flavors start to enter onto the tongue. These flavors take the taste to the end, where they mix with a somewhat more potent alcohol flavor and a rather stronger spice of clove and coriander and a bit of hay comes to the tongue leaving a fruity boozy taste to linger.

Mouthfeel – The body of the beer was smooth and creamy with a medium level of chewiness and a carbonation level that was on the average side. The creaminess was nice for the heavy fruit and boozy flavors; creating a brew that was nice for sipping.

Overall – A interesting and tasty brew overall. One to try if you get a chance.

Glad I only purchased a single of this one, a bit too hoppy for my liking which seems incongruous with the strong yeasty flavor.
