12 oz bottle. Pours hazy orange with fluffy, white head and nice lacing. Aroma is of funky yeast, bready malt and herbal hops. Body is full, oily and crisp. Taste is of spicy yeast, biscuit malt, herbal hops, cotton candy, alcohol and ripe pears. Finish is very dry. Very tasty brew.

Now we are talking!

My go to Biere au Fut in Belgium is La Chouffe as it is extremely drinkable and a good session beer from a Belgian perspective.

With this, in this concoction, the Chouffe yeast is definitely the cornerstone or the foundation for the building blocks.

Remeniscent of La Chouffe, but with a kick, or stinger, at the end - extremely satisfying.

From my perspective, this is what most American Belgian IPA'S what to be when they grow up.

Ommegang/Duvel: A little slice of heaven where we need it most.

A: [3.50] Pours a very cloudy pale straw color. The head has large white bubbles at 1 1/2 fingers. The bottle lists the ABV (9.5%) and a born on date (9/30/14). The date is *really* hard to read - it is black on black.

S: [2.50] Pungent, spicy, funky. Wheat-y? (is that a word thing?)

T: [2.25] Strong wheat and yeast up front. Very pronounced. I thought there was a hint of hard apple cider, in the beginning, but it was less noticeable over time.

M: [3.00] High carbonation and zing on the tongue.

O: [2.75] Wheat beers are not my thing and this is on the less desirable end of that spectrum. I just did not enjoy this beer. Don't read my review if you like wheat beers.

L: Pours a beautiful, crisp golden color with tons of carbonation floating to the top. Even an unaggressive pour generated quite a thick head on it. Tons of lace and plenty of sediment as well if you aren't careful with your pour. Frothy and carbonated. (Note: I poured the last bit out to avoid the sediment)

S: It has a very delicate aroma. Somewhere between Banana, bubble gum, honey, and graham crackers.

T: Also unbelievably delicate for a 9.5% beer. Very spicy up front, bitter and floral from the hops. However, it settles into a brilliantly smooth mixture of honey, bubble gum, and apricot/pear. Only towards the end do you get the subtle bite of the alcohol.

F: The alcohol and carbonation mixture make it very light but also tingly on the lips and tongue. Very dry finish, like a nice white wine. Silky smooth from start to finish really.

O: What a lovely holiday release from Ommegang. It has that signature Belgian taste to it, and is crafted well enough to where you are exposed to the flavors rather than the alcohol content. Incredibly drinkable, downright sessionable. It has that wonderful flowery bite of a pale, the smoothness of a blonde, and the fruity piquancy of a tripel. Wonderfully done.
