Nice pop from the cork of the 750ml imperial bottle.
Pours with abundant ivory head; some four fingers in my tulip. Huge coarse bubbles. Lumpy top with chunky lace. Almost opaque body of a deep brown-black with deep red highlights in front of bright light.
Smells like a roasty porter with a dark chocolate note paired with a nutty Belgian yeast whiff. Simple tart cherry aromas blanketed behind big malty dark bread tones. Like a cherry cordial.
More roast is evident. The chocolate quality is softer now, more milky. There's a slight lactic acid in the middle. A strange overly dry finish. Tastes like a cherry milk stout with a Belgian flair. The cherry is tart, short-lived, and subtle enough. Not vinous, as I would have hoped. Doesn't make a very good Belgian-style stout. Disappointed with the cherry character. I don't mind a mild chocolate, but I think everything is overpowered by these charred dark malts.
Feels thin, watery to an extent. It also burps kind of funny. Will be tough to finish. The carbonation, however, is rather impressive. A nice tongue-wash.
Seduction is a miss. It's not doing very well in winning me over. Especially with that price tag. Not worth it.
