Appearance: It pours a beautiful golden color with an amazing thick, creamy white head that lasts

Smell: Wonderful fruity smell with pear notes and some grassiness

Taste: Fruity, sweet, malty, less dry than the standard Duvel. Herbal grassy flavors as well

Mouthfeel: High carbonation, but with fine bubbles, medium body

Overall: Interesting take on a classic. Not quite as good, but still an amazing brew. Would love to pick up more, and maybe in the future have a side by side with the original Duvel.

A very nice beer indeed.
A golden color with a slight haze. A white smaller head lingers leaving spotted lacing.
The aroma is floral and grassy while the yeasty esters impart a fruity pear aroma.
Drinks dry and slightly bitter. The thing that I noticed most was that maybe it sat in some wine barrels because the driness reminds me of oak tannins while the yeast gives a fruity almost dry white wine taste.
It danced across my palate quite meekly but overall this was a fantastic beer. This will really throw those servers at Cape May BYO restaraunts for a loop, good forbid they open a corked beer.

Nice brown bomber coming with cork and a wire cage. The silhouette of the devil and his goat on the artwork was a nice touch. I poured it into a Duvel tulip (of course), and the pale golden color of the original seemed intact, but the carbonation was not quite as lively as that of the urban Duvel. The aroma was very sweet, with banana, and honey, followed by a bit of barnyard funk. The taste was not too much like the original Duvel, as that beer is known for it's dryness and well hidden alcohol. This one was more sweet, with a lot of floral and herbal notes, and some saltine cracker like breadiness. The finish was quite a bit more Saison like, with some bright hops a blast of pepper and a touch of lemon. The alcohol content was also more readily apparent here. The body felt medium thick, and had a decent mouth coating action. This one was closer to Hennepin than Duvel, as the house yeast strain seemed to have made more of difference than anything else.
