A: An inviting looking beer with an impressive head stand having two fingers of persistant, rocky white foam. The golden colored beer is a light hazy.

S: A moderate citrus and earthy hops notes dominating the aroma along with moderate Belgian yeast aromas of pepper and fruit notes of peach and orange. There is a honey like malt sweetness and pils malt character.

T: A moderately-strong citrus hops flavor with a moderate hops bitterness. The yeast brings some peppery spice along with some more light fruit character. There a touch of malt sweetness but overall this is a very dry beer. The balance is moderately bitter with a dry finish and a linger hops bitterness.

M: A moderately-light bodied beer with a high level of carbonation. The is a slight bit of carbonic dryness on the palate from all the CO2.

O: This beer has some peppery and fruity yeast character with a firm amount of hops so a Belgian Blond with an IPA influence is an apt description. I want more hops particularly in the nose maybe enven some dry hopping but I always cheer for the hop bomb and to be fair this was bottled on 8/20/12 so fresher would be more aromatic and flavorful. There is an obvious Belgian yeast character but towards the light side with is in keeping with the Blonde-Style which is a style that can be almost lager like in fermentation character.

Served in a Lagunitas mason jar.

And I thought Mickey Finn's had a monopoly on the "Gouden-" names... Anyway, this stuff pours a clear brass topped by a couple of fingers of steadfast white foam. The nose comprises lightly-soapy lemon rind, flowers, and very dry wheat. It's refreshing, but decidedly light and ephemeral. The taste brings in more of the same, with a stronger lemon presence and a bit of grass tossed in for good measure. The body straddles the line between hefty light and light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a drying finish. Overall, a decent enough BPA, but one severely lacking in any Belgian character. It's still pretty good, but too light and ordinary (for lack of a better word) to be in any way memorable.

poured from a 750ml into a duvel tulip
(still a relative noob)

1/2 inch head, great smell, very reminiscent of duvel and i can say the same for the taste. doesn't have that same sweet aftertaste, this beer carries a little bite. color is a strong golden yellow, looks beautiful. i bought this at the ommegang brewery because i hadn't seen it anywhere prior, glad i did.
not sure if i'd go out of my way to procure this, but definitely glad i tried it and definitely glad i still have about 500ml left.
would recommend for sure, definitely worth a try.

A: Pours a beautifully hazed golden/orange color. A puffy/wispy two finger white head forms with excellent retention. Rings of sticky lace are left behind. Looks stunning.
S: Rustic, earthy, yeast up front and center that I love. Doughy bread and biscuit aromas along with the hops that come in next. Slightly soapy, but a nice citrus, lemony, orangy hoppy bite. I love it.
T: Again I really enjoy this. That same rustic and earthy yeast is present. The soapy hops are much stronger, along with a lingering bitterness. Though well balanced with doughy bread and biscuit flavors.
M/D: A medium body and crisp carbonation. So dry and crisp. Very enjoyable to drink. I will finish the bottle in no time.

A great hop Belgian Pale Ale. The perfect amount of rustic charm, hops, and biscuity malts. Well done, and highly recommended.

Drank from a 1 pt. 9.4 fl. oz./750 ml bottle
Served in a tulip
Thanks to my dad for picking this up at Brewery Ommegang.

The beer poured a hazy yellow ochre and was topped by a four-finger crown of tight, bubbly, eggshell colored foam. The head slowly faded to a lasting film of bubbles. Spotty patches of lacing stuck along the glass.

The nose was incredibly fragrant. Quite powdery with some fruity, Belgian-like esters. Clean, grassy, Saaz hops came through strong. Crisp and dry. Very well balanced overall.

Lots going on in the flavor profile as well. Semi-sweet bready malts appeared on the front end. Strong Belgian yeast notes and fruity esters came through as well. Good dose of juicy citrus and crisp, grassy notes from the hops. Spicy with a touch of orange peel. Slightly lemony and tart. The beer finished piney, dry and moderately bitter.

The mouthfeel was medium bodied. Creamy, slick and pillowy soft with a fine, zippy, tongue-blanketing effervescence.

Overall, this is a very solid one-time offering from Brewery Ommegang. I definitely see this as being an American version of a Belgian IPA, yet it still maintains a welcomed amount of subtlety and balance. This would undubtedly become a very popular beer in the Ommengang lineup if they decided to brew it on a regular basis.

Appearance: Nice golden color, good white head, leaves good lacing

Smell: Citrus and herby hops, classic Ommegang yeast profile, some fruit

Taste: Strong citrus hops, decent hop bitterness, finishing with that classic Ommegang yeast.

Mouthfeel: Medium body, crisp carbonation

Overall: Not the most impressed with this, when compared to other Ommegang offerings. If you want something hoppy from Ommegang, the BPA is better.
