Winter is coming! Oh wait, it's already come and gone. 750cc bottle poured into a HF glass, $10 for a bottle, drank while watching the premier.

A: Semi-opaque golden amber color with a large, pure white head, moderate retention and lacing.

S: Belgian malts characteristic of the style. Not much hop character to speak of.

T: Belgian wheat taste is strong. No alcohol presence to speak of. Average finish.

M: Clean and quite crisp. Light body with a refreshing finish.

O: An average to above-average Belgian ale. Nothing special but not a bad offereing. A gimmick, sure, and overpriced definitely, but decent beer.

A: This beer pours a pale golden with a touch of haze. The off-white head is persistant with two fingers of creamy, somewhat rocky foam settling slightly.

S: There is a peppery note right up front with a spicy, citrus aroma. A moderate floral hops aroma and a some Belgian yeast fruit and spice aroma. The yeast aromas blend really well with the grains of paradise spicy citrus notes. The malt aroma is light with a simple clean sweetness that teams up with something else in there to give a light cotton candy note in the background.

T: The malt and spice are what you taste at first reflecting the aroma with a citrus spiciness. The malt bring a medium amount of sweetness which is balance by mix of moderately-light hops bitterness and some of the spice. The yeast is again bring a mix of light colored fruit flavors like orange and nectarine along with a black pepper quality. The light hops flavor is a bit more in the back behind the rest being earthy and spicy. The balance is about even depending on the temperature. The finish is off-dry with an aftertaste of peppery, citrus spice and clean sweetness.

M: It's a bit fluffy being a light bodied beer with a moderately strong carbonation.

O: An elegant, well balanced blonde beer with a touch of a spicy edge, which reflects the House of Lannister. There's all the elements promised here; that Belgian Blonde light with it's almost lager like profile while still having a light touch of Belgian qualities along with a citrusy, peppery spice. It's a great beer whether you like the show or not and perfect for when you you want a flavorful complex beer that is still refreshing for a sweltering hot day.

Poured into tulip glass.apprearance is memorable, golden semi-transparent with a tint of orange color. Nose is of banana peel and meyer lemon peel, followed by a wheat aroma. Head is most remarkable here; four and a half finger head(at least). Takes three minutes for fluffy cloud-like foam with a very creamy appreance. head retention and lacing is full of large bubbles, not very resinous/sticky.Mouthfeel is a bit dry with a hop or two in the profile as well, giving this brew a slight bite. essence of coriander, clove, and finishes with a nice apricot/peach flavor.Definately a treat for spring time, with about 4 months on it..i would give this beer about 6-12 months from the release date january 2013 for prime-time consumption. Lable reads serve at 40f; ai enjoyed it more around 50-55f.

Had on tap at New World Tavern Plymouth--served into a tulip glass

Appearance: high carbonation, bright yellow-gold in color, 3/4 inch head, clear

Smell: pineapple, hay, and tropical fruit

Taste: pineapple, hay, tropical sweet fruit juice, sugar, and citrus hops at the end

Mouthfeel: medium bodied, moderate-high carbonation, bitter with sweetness in the middle

Overall: A very enjoyable BPA. It does have the distinct Ommegang taste to it. I could do several glasses of this and would look for it if I was looking for a beer in this style.

750ml split and poured into a snifter. Packaged on 2/18/13.

A: Pours a very cloudy light orangish yellow with a frothy 2 finger white head. A decent amount of visible carbonation in the glass. Leaves some good lacing on the glass.

S: First thing I noticed was a pleasant belgian yeast. Grassy with some pale malts. Authentic to the belgian pale style.

T: As with the aroma this one holds true to the belgian pale style. A solid blend of yeast and pale malts but also a pretty substantial hop backing. Lemon and citrus qualities. Great American take on the style. Lingers in the aftertaste with a hoppy yeastiness.

M: Light mouthfeel with a mouthload of carbonation. Real easy drinking beer with a very crisp and clear finish.

Overall although I havent delved into the Game of Thrones series but was excited to try a new beer from Ommegang.

750ml caged and corked bottle, with plenty of subtle references (I presume) to the marketing tie-in TV show, which I have never seen. That said, the Blind Guardian blasting out of my playlist seems appropriate enough here, huh? Brewed with grains of paradise and lemon peel.

This beer pours a hazy, bright medium golden yellow colour, with a tower of thin, ebulliently foamy eggshell white head, which leaves a few broad swaths of chunky lace around the glass as it slowly bleeds away.

It smells of dry bready, lightly biscuit pale malt, faintly musty yeast, semi-sour lemon, peppy spice - some coriander, some white pepper, and something else with a pithy citrus fruit bent that I'm sure I just don't know - and soft late-summer hay. The taste is moderately sweet grainy, cereal-like malt, more subtly edgy, kind of dirty yeast, nicely sublimated orange and lemon juicy fruit, and mild peppery, clove-adjacent spice. The extra ABV manifests outside of the flavour realm.

The carbonation is pretty much well behaved, the body a decent medium weight, and really quite smooth. It finishes fairly off-dry, the cereal malt and laid-back peppery citrus finding an equitable balance on the tips of my tastebuds.

Well, as I said, I don't know from the HBO series, but this is one agreeable BPA, the extra bit of associative spicing working well with the base pale ale, as the yeast maintains a respectful distance. Fruity, grainy, and tasty, that's all I need to glean from this.
