Poured bottle into glass. 6.8% abv

Appearance- Dull yellow and extremely cloudy. Massive foamy head with great retention. A great amount of yeast sediment also.

Smell- Fresh floral aroma with strong sugary aromas of apricot and orange. It smells quite sweet, not much unlike that of candy.

Taste- The citrus zest of orange is apparent early in the flavor profile. This moves on to an earthy hop bitterness midway that is spot on for this style. Hops are apparent as the name imparts. The sweet sugar taste lingers through the hops and the spicy finish is reminiscent of fresh ground black pepper.

Mouthfeel- Not heavy, but moderate. Just right for a beer labeled as a Summer seasonal. Granted, this is 6.8% abv, so props to Ommegang for making this feel like a 5% beer when it is not. The spicy yeast finish with the generous hop addition make the great complexity and depth of this beer linger in the palate.

Overall- Outstanding! So much going on with this beer and great for the Summer. Another masterpiece from Ommegang and a top shelf Belgian pale ale. I will need to get more of this fine seasonal offering.

Another great, strong selection from Ommegang. This one is very unique and flavorful and quite surprising. Poured from a bottle into an English pub glass.

A: A thick, cloudy opaque gold with hints of brown in the depth of the beer. A lovely two inch head that stays on the top of the beer, with a large amount of lacing.

S: Crisp and fresh and full of hops, loaded with citrus tones of grapefruit, lemon and lime and a rosey nose. A very fresh and complex aroma - this beer's best feature.

T: First impression is a very hoppy beer with a load of fresh flavor backed up by a nice light toasted malt body and slightly above average sweetness. Lots of citrus overtones. Some peppery finish and a nice hoppy bitterness at the end. Very nice beer, hoppy and heavy on the ABV but easy to drink.

M: Smooth and crisp, lots of carbonation and very breezy despite its somewhat high O.G.

O: A very good beer; my third enjoyable beer from Ommegang. This beer is a wonderful example of how an ale can be full of big hop flavors. Lots of well balanced citrus and sweetness and a nice light toasted malt feel back this one up. A beautiful, easy to drink beer with no glaring faults.

This pours a gold straw with a thick cap of foam.

I get an estery defined grassiness along with some drying straw aroma.

It's hoppy and floral with a peppery kick to it.

Great effervescence gives this a light touch on the palate and a crisp finish.

I found it real enjoyable.
