A: Just like the name implies, black, no light until the utmost edges. Good cafe colored head, decent lacing. Slight carbonation visible (inconclusive, however, due to the opaqueness). Bottle art is pretty badass.
S: Good aromas, but deviates slightly from the stout style. Sweet dark plums, some malt, a bit of floral notes. Still, overall it is pretty dark, with coffee and dark chocolate contributing significantly.
T: The plums dominate, some medium-bitter chocolate and coffee notes are in there too. The sweetness comes out over bitterness, which makes it pretty palatable. Finish is on the shorter side for a dark beer. Very flavorful, but it seems a little disjointed.
M: Surprisingly smooth, given how low the viscosity appears from looking at it. Ample carbonation gives it a lively feel.
O: A good beer, but not quite up my alley (not a plum fan), and not really a stout, as the label suggests. It had some stout-like qualities- ultra dark, coffee and chocolate notes that brought some good bitterness- but overall a misleading title. Definitely not just a marketing gimmick and has some thought behind it, but I won't endorse it more than that.

Pours black as a White Walkers soul with a very huge head...I had to slow down my pour to make sure i didnt over do it.Slight lacing and retention...so far so good.Smell is licorice and malt.First taste is not what I was expecting but maybe because of the Ommegang style I expected the siginiture taste of the Belgian style. This is NOT a chocolate bomb stout for sure.It does seem to melt in the mouth a bit but not a thick aftertaste.Do not let the name fool you. This is not a Russian Imperial Stout. This is much lighter and at first I was let down but after my first glass I get what they were trying to pull off here. Not bad at all. 3.5 out of 5 stars.
