750 ml bottle into signature tulip glass, bottled on 8/29/2013. Pours pitch black color with a 2-3 finger fairly dense dark tan head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, coffee, molasses, raisin, plum, licorice, clove, herbal, light pepper, wood, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt, fruity/earthy yeast, and moderate licorice notes; with great strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, coffee, light char, molasses, raisin, plum, licorice, clove, herbal, light pepper, wood, and yeast earthiness. Fair amount of earthy/roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, coffee, molasses, light char, raisin, plum, clove, pepper, licorice, wood, herbal, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity and balance of dark/roasted malt, fruity/spicy yeast ester, and moderate licorice flavors; with a great malt/yeast flavor balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a smooth, fairly creamy/chalky, and lightly prickly mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent Belgian stout. All around great complexity and balance of dark/roasted malt, fruity/spicy yeast ester, and moderate licorice flavors; and very smooth to sip on. I really enjoyed this one.

Brewery Ommegang 'Take the Black Stout' @ 7.0% served from a 750 ml corked/caged bottle purchased for $10
A-after a loud pop of the cork the pour is a dark brown from the bottle to near black in the glass with some ruby red peeking thru a big frothey tan head which is leaving a sticky lace along the goblet
S-similar to a porter at first then then Belgian yeast kicks in
T-has that strong ABV swallow
MF-good carbonation , big full body
