A: Dark black with a dark khaki foamy head. Great lacing.
S: There is a scent of roasted grain, a bit of what reminds me of root beer, and it has a slightly woody scent. Not a whole lot going on.
T: The taste is fantastic. There's this light carbon flavor that tastes similar to the crust on a grilled steak. There is a peppery flavor, and a bit of dark herbal flavor like bay leaves as well. It is nice because it has a bitterness that isn't too strong. I really like this beer and its spiciness.
M: The mouthfeel is nice and smooth. It has a great full presence in the mouth. When I'm drinking it, I get a nice full sensation. It just feels like a high-quality beer. It has great carbonation.
O: First off I wasn't sure what to expect from the beer. I knew that it was more of a gimmick beer being brewed for Game of Thrones. I was thrilled when I drank this beer. It is a very well made stout that has fantastic flavor. I'm hoping that they put this one out again even if it's under another name. It has a great balance of roasted flavor and spice. I looked around and didn't find any mention of the beer being a Belgian Dark Ale. The bottle calls it a Stout, Ommegang calls it a Stout...if you're a stout lover you will love this beer.

Had on tap at the Ommegang brewery cafe yesterday.Poured into a snifter near jet black with a one finger frothy beige head atop.Aromas of black licorice and roast mainly, quite yeasty.Flavors of light yeasty phenols, dark roast, and more of the black licorice, with a dryer earthy finish. Not bad and not overly yeasty/phenolic.

Found this in total wine, almost died of ecstasy. I'm a huge 'A Song of Ice and Fire' and 'Game of Thrones" fan.. so was pretty excited to find this on the shelf..
A 25 oz. bottle poured into a New Belgium globe.
A: Dark, pitch black death. A quarter-inch head left on the top.
S: Sour, burnt hops, a smidgen of marshmallow.
T: Tastes sour, dark oak and chocolate.
M: Foamy, breezy, fluffy. Delicious.
O: Very nice beer. I would recommend it. AND read the books too.

In a snifter the beer was a black color with a cocoa-colored head. There was a bit of lace.
Aroma of chocolate and coffee, with some sweet fruit. I had the impression of charcoal.
The aroma translated well into the taste. Sweet chocolate, coffee. Some raisins. Still that charcoal sensation.
Very smooth, on the dry side.

750mL bottle from the LCBO - apparently my local shop randomly got a bonus case or two of this today. Finally watching the series and reading the books...not sure why it took me so long.
Pours dark charcoal, with a billowing head of foam of the usual Belgian-inspired sort. Lingers long, with good retention and a healthy dose of lacing.
Nose is chocolate, Belgian yeast, caramel, smoke. A few beers marketed as a "Belgian Stout" have had similar noses.
Anise was billed high, but got a pretty moderate performance. Still, the brew itself was quite tasty - dry roasted malt, coffee, Belgian yeast, dark fruit, a bit of smoke and spice. Went down well as I watched the episode.
Tasty brew, certainly a marked improvement over their first GoT brew. Nice Belgian Dark.
