Appearance: Clear, cola-colored body, with a coarse, fizzy tan head, which soon all-but-vanishes, leaving only a scattering of foam about the rim of the glass.
Aroma: Caramel and dark bread notes dominate the aroma. Banana and cloves are present as well, but rather subdued.
Taste: The taste begins with dark bread and caramel, there are slight notes of banana, and slightly stronger cloves. Later in the taste, an earthy character presents, likely from the wheat malt. There is no notable hop presence. Finishes with a long and lingering note of dark bread and caramel.
Mouth feel: Soft and fairly full, pleasant, which just a touch of zesty carbonation.
Drinkability/notes: A very nice and drinkable example. With Texas having benefited enormously from German immigration, it is fitting to see a classic German beer style brewed in the state.
Presentation: Packaged in a standard twelve-ounce aluminum can, served in a Sam Adams Sensory glass.

Poured into a glass from a can.
A - Pours a very dark amber, forming a thin off white head that faded quickly. No lacing.
S - Strong mixed aroma of banana, dark fruit, and alcohol.
T - Taste follows the aroma, having a very pronounced banana flavor, a hint of dark fruit, and finishing with a very noticeable alcohol presence. No bitterness and very sweet.
F - Medium bodied, low carbonation, and smooth.
O - The alcohol was very present and high for a dunkleweizen. If it was targeted more as a Weizenbock, I would believe it. The flavors did not meld as well on this, and I feel if I had more than one of these, I would wake up with a hangover from the alcohol, maybe fusel. I think the base of a great beer is here, but it needs to be reduced a bit.

Poured from a can into a pint glass. Clear dark brown color. Short lived head and lacing. Smell is and taste is sweet and herbal. Overall, the beer is a good dunkel, maybe a bit on the sweet side.

Pours a cloudy/hazy coppery reddish brown color with dark ivory colored head. Sweet malts, caramel, banana, clove, spice, and wheat on the nose; follows onto the palate. Medium bodied. Finishes sweeter than expected.

Can from the Texas Craft box.
Appearance: Short lived head drops to a thin halo that doesn't lace. Very murky dark brown with a darker center of the glass. Shows some legs sliding slowly down the glass.
Smell: Rich melanoidin malty note that is right for style. Some banana and caramel really punch up the profile.
Taste: Sweet base balanced with a weizen banana yeast character that gives good depth and character. Wheat gives an earthy grain flavor that rounds out the finish nicely.
Mouthfeel Slight grit, slick, medium heavy body, oily finish.
Overall: A well made example of the style. Hits all the right notes, seems almost tame, I guess a nicer word would be smooth. First taste of Oak Highlands, I'm impressed! Will be looking for more.
