Stopped by the Saturday after savor on a recommendation from a friend. The place was not overly busy and started at the bar, was impressed at the start by the amount of beer on tap as well as the amount of bottle beers. The prices for 12 oz bottles and drafts seemed more than reasonable with the 750 ml bottles seeming a little high for some beers. The atomsphere was nice it was very laid back and everyone at the bar was very social and nice. The star of the trip was our bartender who was outstanding she new exactly what she was talking about and was able to make great recommendations that went beyond the normal beers you would expect. She was also very willing to engage you about beer. After a couple hours we sat down and ate, the food was slightly above average and reasonable with the table getting buffalo chicken sliders other appetizers and cheesecake. The waiter wasn't as good, so I would recommend going to the bar. Overall it would be a must stop again when travelling back to dc.

Went to RFD after visiting DC Chophouse on a Friday night around 10pm and scored 4 seats at the bar. It was actually kind of dead. However, I was able to get Hopslam and DirtWolf so I was pleased. Prices were fine, especially for being so close to the Verizon Center.

Average place with a friendly staff. The go-to place before Caps games as it is large and accommodating while being one block from the Verizon Center. Usually have decent specials and an above average beer selection for a bar of this style.
After a Caps game or on a Friday/Saturday night this place is packed with the bar being 2-4 deep.

I visited on a Sat night during the early dinner hours prior to a home Capitals game. There were a fair number of hockey and college football fans, about 2-3 deep at the bar. I met a friend there for an early dinner.
Food was fairly pedestrian with some (unfortunately) cold vegetarian nachos to start. The burgers were hot with good fries.
THe beer quality was excellent, especially the happy hour specials of $4 Two Hearted and Bells Brown. The tap selection was pretty good but really not all that special -- a lot of grocery store beers, although I was able to given Otter Creek Kind Rider Rye IPA a try. Not anything too out there though.
Service was very attentive and quite good, although things were not too busy at 6-8pm as it was in the midst of the Capitals game. Our server was inobtrusive, there everytime we needed him, and pretty knowledgeable about the beer list.
Prices off the happy hour menu were not bad at all, regular pints were $6-7 for the most part. Food prices were pretty reasonable -- I think burgers were $9-10.
RFD is a no-nonsense bar with a pretty good selection of taps and bottles and pub food. Decent but nothing too earth-shaking. Solid.
