A-Pours golden and a bit hazy. Aggressive pour delivers a huge, frothy white head. The lacing is flared, popped bubbles that leave a cool pattern along the glass.

S-Aroma is of soapy hops with definite coriander and clove. I surprisingly do get some sage like the back label suggests. It's a unique aroma. A good amount of bubblegum as well. Wheat as well. In the nose, it's almost a bit under hopped.

T-A slightly vegetal hoppy flavor here with lighter soapy hops. The hops are balanced or even outweighed by the Belgian spice medley combined with the wheat. Bubblegum, clove, sage, coriander, dried out wheat and some grassy hops.

M-Body seems a bit thin. Not very bitter. Carbonation is a bit dull.

O/D-Not a big fan of this brew. It's unique but too Belgiany for me. Could use some more aggressive hoppiness to counterbalance the spice and wheat. Not too happy with the purchase.

Hazy light amber to gold in color. A finger of fine white foam on the top. Pine like hop and coriander aroma. The mouthfeel is moderately carbonated and bitter. I get the hops at the front of the palate and then immediately it gets overtaken by the coriander. The intensity of the coriander dulls as the beer warms slightly.

Pours cloudy gold with a two finger white head, which has good retention, and leaves spotty lacing. Has an unusual aroma with citrus, clove, coriander, bubblegum, sage. and lemongrass.

I can taste the witbier and IPA properties of this beer more easily than I could smell them. Perhaps this beer should be reclassified, since it is not a true American IPA. It more closely resembles a Belgian IPA, than anything else. I can taste citrus, Belgian yeast, cloves, coriander, citrus zest, sage, pepper, and lemongrass.

Medium bodied with below average carbonation. Has a slightly bitter aftertaste. Not a bad beer at all. I'm glad I had a chance to try it.

Bottle pour at the DTLA bottle share held at Beer Belly in Los Angeles, CA.

Thanks to USMCretired for sharing this one.

Batch # RB13254-2. Best before 6/2014.

Pours a hazy yellow with a foamy white head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, citrus, chalk, and spice aromas. Taste is much the same with citrus and spice flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of yeast and spice bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that seems more like a normal witbier than any sort of IPA in my opinion.

Pours an effervescent & slightly hazed bronze with fluffy pearl colored head. Above average head retention & lacing

S: Big-time yeasty notes, graininess, white pepper, coriander & lemon peel, plus juicy-fruit

T: Phenolic notes, wet cereal, lemon zest & grapefruit up front, cloves as well. Grassyness, cloves, grapefruit & wet cereal as this warms. Finishes with lemons, grapefruit & cloves & slight juiciness & a touch of booze bite

MF: Fairly chewy, slight carbonation, decent balance

Drinks fairly easy, not one I would buy again. I find very few of these white IPAs that interesting. I like New Belgium's Accumulation a ton more & can get a sixer of that for less money

Had on tap at Max's during BBW 2013 (from notes, 10/27/13).

A: Copper. Nice head with lacing.

S: Pine and citrus.

T: Full on hops with refreshing light citrus.

M: Smooth.

O: Quite easy drinking and good. Not phenomenal but a good IPA for the fall.

I poured a bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance- Hazy golden color with two fingers worth of foamy head. Nice retention with a fair amount of clinging lace.

Smell- Piney and floral hops with a hint of coriander and citrus.

Taste- Mellow hop bitterness with some coriander and sage notes.

Mouthfeel- Medium bodied with an average amount of prickly carbonation. Slightly dry finish.

Overall- While I enjoyed this beer, I liked the original version ( Collaboration No.2) better. The sage is more pronounced this time around and this would have been better in the summer not the fall.

Appearance: poured out of a 750 ml bottle, Reboot has a pleasant nectarine orange hue to it. Cloudy with at least and inch of head. Lacing is not visible.

Smell: a spicy herbal nose, predominantly orange peel and hints of banana and lemongrass.

Taste: starts out tasting like a witbier, it has a spicy honey taste up front with a malty orange wheat taste to it. Maybe a small hint of some light bread and lemongrass in there. The hops are hidden but definitely present near the end, a nice smooth but slightly spicy finish to it.

Mouth feel, medium bodied, light carbonation.

Overall: this is an interesting and fairly complex beer! Definitely ba different brew. Pretty easy to drink, I like the Belgian wheat style to it, but it has a nice smooth hoppy finish to it.

A - Pours a bright hay/golden color with an eggshell head that has good retention/lacing.

S - Coriander or sage spices abound, followed with a bit of musk (WTF?), piney & floral hops and a belgianesque smell.

T - Hops and sage/clove/coriander that move towards a floral aspect with a belgian hop bite in the end.

M - Light to medium bodied with medium carbonation. Has a smooth body.

O - It's a refreshing beer to drink. Not a style I go for often, but one I can appreciate.

750 ml bottle
Served in a tulip glass
Best by: 06-2014

A - It is golden in color with pale yellow highlights. A normal pour yielded a mountain of off-white head.

S - The first thing I though was that this smells like a witbier. I then read the bottle, and sure enough, it was a wit IPA. The orange and coriander come through with small amounts of hops aroma. The citrus all blends together.

T - This beer drinks like a typical witbier until the finish. The hops make their presence known with a bitter citrus finish.

M - Medium with ample carbonation.

O - This is the first "white" IPA that was based on a wit. All the others were hoppy wheat beers. This was interesting to try. I think I prefer the hoppy wheats to the hoppy wits.

Pours a clear yellow with an abundance of floaties. Lovely tall stack of suds in the Peroni lager glass. Aroma of fruit and sage and flowery hops is a standout.

The sage and lemongrass give this a distinctly different flavor from the usual coriander and orange peel. Big Hefeweizen clove taste. Really a lot of spicy flavor, and then the bitterness starts in. Hops blend nicely with the herbs. It's a spicy, aromatic, tangy and thoroughly crazy brew. The hops take over the aftertaste, but I've never had anything so hot with spice and so hoppy at the same time. The clove taste is the bully here.

I don't mind sediment, especially in a wheat beer, but the floating bits always put me off. From the 750 ml bottle purchased at Best Damn Beer Shop in San Diego.

smokestack series does it again! I love white ipa, and this is a darn good one. it pours pale golden in color and has over an inch of soapy white head with great lasting ability. nose is real herbal, not as hoppy as expected, I smell all kinds of sweet wheat malt, like a tripel really, and more of a summery hop vibe. the flavor is the same, herbal as anything. more than just the sage the label suggests, I pick up golden raisins and pine too, an odd but very pleasurable combination. its refreshing too, a nice surprise as well. its insanely drinkable, interesting enough to hold my attention through a 750 ml bottle, and real light for what it is. the alcohol is invisible, and the hops finish is long and a little fruity, hardly bitter at all. light feel, the wheat malt doesn't give it much heft, which is appreciated here. my question though, is why do all white ipas have to be hoppy Belgian wit types with spices and coriander and all of that. why cant we just have a hoppy wheat beer, no frills? this comes close, but there is some definite spice here, and the herbal vibe convolutes the hops. still this is amazing, highly recommended.

Pours a cloudy orange-yellow with slight head retention. The nose is a bit yeasty with a hint of citra hops and orange peel. It drinks fairly smooth and is yeasty on the tongue. It finishes with bite thanks to a blend of citrusy hops and orange notes. As it warms the orange becomes more prominent in the flavor. As is typical of white IPAs, it's fairly smooth and drinkable even with the presence of hops.

One of the better white IPAs I've had, though it should be noted I don't favor the style in general.

Appearance: 1/4 inch head, hazy, gold in color, high carbonation

Smell: pine, light citrus, and Belgian spices

Taste: sweet pineapple juice, tangerine, light piney and citrus hops, and Belgian spices.

Mouthfeel: sweet with light bitterness, medium bodied with medium carbonation

Overall: Sweet for the Belgian IPA style but full of juicy fruit hops. I love the tanginess of the pineapple and the tangerine. Boulevard does not miss with the Smokestack series and I find this to be no exception. Their excellence turns styles I would not normally reach for into beers I would get time and again.

Had on tap at the Corner Slice here in GSO tonight.Poured into a standard pint glass a lightly hazed medium golden with a thinner but well sustained white head atop.Aromas are yeasty but not very phenolic with lemon oils and herbal notes.Citrusy and bright on the palate with yeasty undertones with some spice, more herbal hops come around in the finish.A nice well rounded BIPA,yeasty but not in your face with good fresh hops flavors.

@ Ridgewood

Clear, solid gold topped by a small, sticky white head. Spicy, herbal, and grainy wheat aromas along with clove, a coriander sweetness, and pine needles. Spicy pine, grapefruit, and grassy hop flavors. Quite herbal and zesty with a slight sweetness. Medium bodied and refreshing, finishing dry. Enjoyable...leaning more towards to Wit side of the "style" which is a nice change of pace.

Poured into a Chuckanut pint glass. Pours a light golden amber with a half finger white head with good retention and lots of lacing. Aroma of Belgian and earthy spices, floral hops, Belgian yeast. Flavor is Belgian yeast, coriander and sage, mild malt, grassy hops; the profile leans towards a mild tripel probably because of the spicing, but I detect a mild funkiness. Nice medium body, lightly creamy, nice mouth feel. The Belgian spices and farmhouse yeast flavors dominate this over the hops, which are present, but subdued. There is a lingering grassy hop finish, but not much aromatic hops present. I liked this hybrid of Belgian tripel spicing and light American hopping. Interesting and refreshing.

i picked up a growler of this today, it pours a nice clear golden color with a small foamy head.
S- Smells of a light citrusy hop smell.
T- I have read some of the reviews and i guess my palate is a tad funky, but on first taste the piney and citrus blend mix to taste to me almost banana-y. The finish has a nice citrusy flavor with a bit of sweetness. A little odd, but when i tasted it at the growler shop, i had to have more of this. It is enjoyable and very drinkable.
M- Smooth and clean, good carbonation, leaves a small citrusy aftertaste that lingers for just long enough to make you want to take another sip to refresh it.
O- this is a very tasty beer, not the best, but then again, if you see it in stock, its definately one you should try out. good flavors, not too aggressive, easy drinking. i have no problem recomending this beer.

P: Fairly clear vivacious pale golden body with a massive cap of dense meringue head. Retention is great and crumbles to a rocky crown leaving thick chunky lacing.

S: Spice forward with coriander, cinnamon, star anise, clove, bubble gum, belgian yeast and follows up with earthy hop oil dipped in citrus.

T/M: Lots of tangy wheat, coriander, lemongrass, clove, herbs and dirty earthy hops. Creamy medium body with faint carbonation. Semi-dry finish with lingering orange rind.

O: A nice balanced brew with earthiness, citrus and spices. I could drink this all day long. The yeast strain is delicate and not cloying which helps with the drinkability. I enjoyed the collaboration 2 so I had to grab this. Cheers!

A: Pours a golden yellow color with 2+ fingers of head that last for a while before settling down to a thin bubbly cap

S: More on the witbier side, with Belgian yeast, fruitiness, spices, and a bit of wheat. Some citrusy and grassy hops are also in there to make up the IPA side

T: Starts off with the Belgian yeast and fruitiness which is quickly met by the bitterness of the hops. Some citrus and spices come through, before ending up with the wheat malts and a bit of chalkiness. Finishes moderately bitter

M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation

O: A nice, refreshing wit with a kick of American hops. It's very easy to drink and doesn't get overly bitter like some Belgian IPAs do. Definitely a solid example of the style

Reviewed from notes taken 1-7-14. Shout out to SplashyFob for sharing this one.

This one came with a generous off-white head. Goldenrod is how I would describe the body, with lots of sediment present. Very good head retention.

Piney and floral with a biscuit is how it started off. Herbal and spicy came in to finish the nose off.

Wheaty with herbs and spices was my first impression. Light pine with dirty/gardeny hops followed up. A pepperiness seemed to pervade the entire beer.

Medium bodied. Carbonation is ok in this one. It leaves a light film and finishes dry.

A 750ml bottle.

Poured a clear bright yellow with white head and lacing. Nice bubbling from the bottom.

Nose: Spicy with pine and grass hops.

Taste: Well, it got better. If I would have reviewed this off the first sip it would have been bad. This beer is not what I expected. It is not at all hoppy. There are some hops but more in the back ground. It has a leaning toward Belgian style IPA. It would have been even better if they left the sage out. The sage remarkably blends in as I drink the beer. Not near as offensive as the first sip or two.

Carbonation is good. Plenty.

Overall, a good example of the style. Belgian that is.

A- Hazy gold, great head retention, sticky lacing.

S- Smells like condensed wit bier with a floral hop nose, Citrus and spice.

T- All the components of a good wit bier but amplified with a fresh floral and citrus hop bite.

M- The quintessential Boulevard Smokestack Belgium style of beers, lush, velvety, creamy carbonation slightly sticky medium body.

I have had both on tap and bottled and the tap versions hop profile was more pronounced, get it while you can on tap!

Picked this up from my local growler store

Pours a dark amber color with little to no head but leaves a nice white lace on top. It smells of citrus fruits: grapefruit, orange, lemon with floral undertones. A very nice smell. It tastes just like it smells. Fruity with herbal tones on the finish. Definitely a slight bitterness on the back from the hops. The mouthfeel is modest for an IPA. Not much bite but enough to be noticed. It's not overly carbonated which is good. Ocerall a solid beer. One of the better IPAs i've had.
