Served in a tumbler.

Let's see Boulevard's take on the whole "we put wine grapes/juice/must/whatever into our beer" thing. This stuff pours a clear sunrise brass topped by a finger or so of lightly off-white foam. The nose comprises white wine grapes (some kind of chardonnay or sauvignon blanc or something) and a touch of rather light sweet biscuit. The taste brings in more of the same, the wine character dominating any potential challengers. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a thickly fluid feel. Overall, a nice beer, but I would have preferred some wine/beer interplay, rather than just a beer flavored heavily with wine grapes (especially considering the name), but it's not bad.

The description of this beer made me pick it up. Sounded quite interesting. Was unable to smell or taste any of the "grape" flavors. Even the description of "malt beverage" did not come through. I had some very bitter, possibly earthy notes and that was it. Drain pour, 5 bottles still in package. Even the local distributor can not get rid of this stuff. Would not recommend.

Appearance: 1/3 inch head, high carbonation, straw yellow in color, clear

Smell: hay, pilsner malt, and white grape juice

Taste: White grape juice start with a malty pilsner like middle and then a white wine finish. The grapes seem sugary sweet at the beginning but definitely take on a more wine like taste at the end.

Mouthfeel: sweet with slight bitterness, light body, high carbonation

Overall: Really interesting. This drinks like a pilsner or light lager mixed with a white wine. Almost has elements of a dry reisling. A nice summer beer. I could have several of these.

Serving glass: Poured from bottle into Nonic Pint.

Appearance: Very light yellow, almost fluorescent, with rapidly diminishing head, leaving little behind.

Smell: Two day old Sauvignon Blanc. It's an okay smell but worrisome.

Taste: Tastes like a cross between a bland Blonde Ale and bad white wine. Lingering, horrible aftertaste.

Feel: Moderate carbonation but leaves a flat impression. Bad sweet finish.

Overall: This is the worst beer I have had in a while.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a tall pint glass. Bottle says best by 01/30/15.

Appearance: Pours a bright and fairly hazy straw golden orange with a lot of rising bubbles. Big three finger white head that fades into a thin patchy layer. Leaves a decent amount of lacing.

Smell: A fruity and bready malt forward aroma with big hints of white grapes. Pale malt with hints of grains, straw, biscuit, cracker, and yeast. Big scent of white grapes giving a white wine like aroma. Also some fruit hints of pear, green apples, and lemon zest. Some sweet hints of sugar as well. An interesting aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a fruity and fairly bready malt and juice driven taste with big notes of white grapes. Sweet pale malt with notes of straw, cracker, grains, and biscuit. Big taste of sweet and tart white grapes with a wine like presence. Other fruit notes include green apples, pear, and lemon. Some light notes of sugar as well. A pretty decent taste.

Mouthfeel: Light bodied with a high level of carbonation. Crisp and pretty spritzy and smooth.

Overall: A decent twist on a Blonde Ale. Light but the added grape juice adds a nice kick to the Blonde notes.

12 oz bottle with a BB date of 30 Jan. 2015.
Pours the color of wine wine, but hazy and with an exceptionally high amount of visible carbonation. The large white head has good retention and leaves a fairly full coat of lacing upon tipping of the glass.

Aroma: golden ale with white grape juice.

Flavor: Adding grapes or grape juice to beer just ounds like a bad idea, but here's yet another beer that manages to add make this work. Like some others, this one does it even though the grapes have a detectable contribution to the flavor (and aroma). Still, don't love this but modestly enjoyable and easy drinking.

O: light, fruity and refreshing.

Picked this up at Goebels in Wichita, BBD of 01/30/15

Pours just like champagne; light gold & effervescent. Stays effervescent throughout, a little bit of lacing & carbonation

S: Faint breadyness & white grapes

T: Faint breadyness & white grapes & little grassiness up front. More of the same as this warms, slight dryness as well. Finishes dry, prickly & with some white grape

MF: Light bodied, firm carbonation, some acidity & starts becoming slightly overgassed

Easy to drink, but this could've been executed so much better. I think Boulevard took a great idea & just dumbed it down too much. Expected way more

12 oz. bottle poured into a Sierra Nevada pint (best by 1/30/15)

A: Super clear faint white wine color. Nice foamy head that goes away pretty quick. Just a bit of lacing.

S: Fruity, grape must smell with that blonde ale smell behind it all.

T: Weird tasting. The blonde is marred by the grapes here instead of 'entwined' like it is called. Weird dryness that seems like it is fruity but actually really isn't.

M: Quite carbonated, but not very rough. More foamy with lots of bubbles.

O: Pancakes will be made out of this. I'm sorry, but that best by date is a joke. This thing is only going down hill.
