Appearance – This one poured a righteous cloudy orange in color with a nice, white head that stayed around long enough.

Smell – The light wheat and orange notes are held back quite a bit when cold. They opened up a tad more as the ale warmed, but generally this bouquet is reserved.

Taste – Well, I’m never quite sure what they’re shooting for with the PWA style, but this isn’t bad. The wheat is crisp if a bit musty and the big orange from the nose takes a step back at the taste. There’s a light candy sugariness throughout.

Mouthfeel – This is in between light and medium-bodied with some strong, effervescent carbonation and a modest pale dryness in the lingering finish.

Drinkability – As far as the style goes, this was one of the better offerings that I’ve tried.

Pours hazy golden color with a 2 finger width carbonated head. There is mild head retention and very little to no lacing. Very carbonated. Orange peel and coriander dominate the aroma. Wheat taste up front with slight bitterness and a mildly spicy orange peel taste at the end. Aftertaste is mild. Decent beer. Very drinkable but certainly not the best of the bunch.

Had on tap at the Corner Slice in Greensboro over the weekend.Poured into a standard pint glass a hazy lemony yellow color with a thinner nicely formed white head.Aromas of faint toasted wheat and spice mainly, not much there really.Flavors are light but pretty refreshing with lemon and toasted creal-like flavors, again light but goes down easy.A pretty standard wheat ale but it's better than alot out there of the same ilk.

12oz bottle pours hazy yellow in color.

I can hear the beer crackling in the glass. Upon smelling I get that it's lemony with sweet malty and musty notes. Not bad though it does fade quickly.

Smooth texture, zesty lemon toward the finish.

While it's not really full or complex, it makes for a good session or a transition beer for people who haven't had a lot of luck with ales.

Finally tapped a fresh keg of this at work so I thought I'd give it a second chance. What a difference fresh makes for this beer! It looks totally different. It is a warm gold with a fat soda-ish head that is slow to go but eventually does. Smells of light bubblegum and lighter banana. Taste is totally different from the bottle I sampled. It is not watery, though it is light and has more of light bubllegum and banana flavor I picked up in the nose. Any twang in the way of citrus or cloves is masked by wheat astringincy.

Mouthfeel is light and lively but theres a fizziness issue here that hurts both mouthfeel and drinkability.

12 oz bottle, dated 9/18/09? (hard to read probably a bit old). Pours a hazy golden yellow with a big rocky white head that goes to a thin film that laces the glass some.

The aroma is subdued - wheaty malts and lemon with a little yeast.

The flavor is wheaty bready malts and some lemon with a little spice and some earthy yeast in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium to light bodied and kind of watery with very spritzy carbonation.

Overall, an OK wheat. Not much there, but it's not bad.

12oz brown bottle with a freshness date

LOOK: Cloudy yellow straw, slowly fading white head

SMELL: Floral, nutty yeast, faint spice, mild Asian pear, bready, clean

TASTE: Very smooth, refreshing crispness, slice of bread, citrus pith, dragon fruit, melon rind, nutty, yeasty, moderate hopping, mild bitterness, drying grainy finish

A high benchmark for the original version of this style, subtle hops so they are relying mostly on the malt backbone and the fermentation here. Boulevard nails the style.

12 oz bottle. Best by 09/10/05. Hazy straw. Tons of tiny bubbles rise to a nice layer of foam. Mostly grain in the nose. It tastes fine, I guess. Really nothing to get excited about. Has a wheaty/lemony thing going on. I do prefer this beer with a lemon wedge. Soft across the tonge. Subtle bitterness. Best beer to get at Royals games.

From a sampler pack, this bottle pours a hazy lemonade yellow body with a small vanilla head. Aroma has some lemony pepper notes, not much else. Light to light medium body with a bit too much carbonation. Taste has some lemony citrus and yeast. That's about it. Not much to this one. I suppose it would be a good thirst quencher but disappointing as a beer.

Poured from a 16 ounce metal that were available all over Kansas City during my recent visit. Light tangarine in color, minimal head and lace, A light wiff of fruit, lemon, yeast. Light fruit, light lemon, some yeasty/wheatyness. Just nothing special...decent warm weather sessioner or to wash down a burger, not much beyond the basics.

Appearance: 3/4 inch head, high carbonation, bright-yellow in color, hazy

Smell: lemon and wheat

Taste: lemon and wheat

Mouthfeel: sweet, medium carbonation and light bodied

Overall: Nothing overly complex, but a good sessionable light beer. I will pick this up again. Perfect for a hot summer's afternoon.

Thanks to mar for sharing this bottle.

The beer pours a pale yellow color with a white head. The aroma is corn and wheat. Not very good. The flavor is more of the same with wheat and lemons. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

I have drank this beer many times and never remembered being this disappointed.

Serving glass: Poured from bottle into Pint glass.

Appearance: Cloudy light yellow-orange with thin white head.

Smell: Light wheat malt and slight orange, banana and a clove peppery spiciness. Smells faintly like a Hefeweizen.

Taste: Semi-sweet wheat with a nice mix of crisp orange and surprisingly hefe-like banana. Slightly peppery at the end.

Feel: Moderately high carbonation, light to medium creamy body, semi-dry finish.

Drinkability: Better than average American Wheat, which has a slight Hefeweizen character. Refreshing and crisp.

Appearance - Yellow and Cloudy. 2 inch head medium retention. Falls to no perceivable head leaving a very small amount of faint, sticky lace.

Smell - Citrusy and spicy with a faint floral hop aroma.

Taste - Wheat, yeasty, slightly sour, citrus, with a very nicely played hop bitterness as the beer warms up.

Mouthfeel - Light body, high carbonation level.

Drinkability - excellent session beer until the carbonation and subtle sour flavor catch up with you.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. Small amount of head, deep gold colored with flecks expected from an unfiltered wheat. Aroma is a citrusy bread. They added yeast before bottling to create a secondary fermentation and you can tell by smell. Taste leaves something to be desired. A little thin, drinks like water. Probably wouldn't buy again if in the mood for a wheat beer. Not that its awful, just a lot better available in price range.

Bottle with a BB date of 5/10/12

A-An aggressive pour into a pint glass gives a couple fingers of bubbly white head. Hazy pale yellow with lots of sediment.

S-Wheat dominates, a fair amount of fruity esters from the yeast. Maybe a hint of hops in there too.

T-Wheat is dominant, not much else in the taste department. There is more tartness in this than most wheats, a bit lemony.

M-Moderate carbonation, light body. Smooth with a quick finish. Really easy to drink.

D-Good for a long day.

O-Easy to drink wheat beer, light in flavor. More tart than most. Not my favorite of the wheats.

Light gold in color with plenty of fine sediment throughout. Minimal head dissipates entirely, but I see good carbonation bubbles. I get a whiff of pale wheat and telltale American Wheat yeast that gives it a bit of an orange like aroma. Light in body with a light bitterness from the yeast from a slight orange like bite. The pale wheat is a soft contrast to that bitterness.

Pours cloudy straw under a 2” pillowy white foam cap that slowly dissipates and leaves thick, clingy lace. Lemon, green apple, yeast and honey aromas with some white bread fill the nose. Dry, tart, lemony palate over white bread with moderately low hops, medium-light body and medium carbonation.

A better pale wheat, cloudy, vibrant yellow color, didn't come across much noticeable aroma.

Taste, chewy for wheat, a little lemon and banana. Hops are bigger than in most beers, and definitely for what I expected from Boulevard. Bitterness is amped up as well. Its certainly no gumballhead or sumpin sumpin, but it could prolly hang with hop sun.

Price is usually pretty decent for Boulevard stuff, that makes this a recommend in my book so long as you actually like some wheat beers out there.

Hazy medium yellow with small white head.

Aromas of lemon, wheat and a floral scent.

Tastes of lemon, bread and maybe clover. Mild flavors nothing really stands out. Hops are vague.

Very light, somewhat refreshing. Easy to drink, but nothing above average.

On tap at Patrick McGovern's in St. Paul, MN...

Slightly hazy greenish yellow color, 3/4 inch very white head with excellent staying power. Spotty laces. Bland aroma, slight sense of yeast. Flavor is pretty refugee in character, little ester, low spiciness. Mostly a sense of lemon astrigency combined with a watery texture. Relatively clean finish. There's very little going on with this brew, not a good Hefe at all in my book. So bland that its easy to throw 'em back, though.

This beer pours a pale slightly hazy yellow color, with a very thin white head. The head fades very fast, leaving minimal lace.

This beer has a very mellow spicy aroma. Some grainy flavor is present. It also has a slightly citrusy aroma. It is pretty bland.

This beer tastes like it smells. Some lemon zest, and a slightly spicy flavor.

This beer is thin. It leaves a very slight citrusy aftertaste. It is carbonated well.

This beer might make a great session beer. The flavor is not aggressive, or bad, and it is low in alcohol.

Overall: Thank you Vancer for this beer. You are a good man. I liked this beer, but I found it to be rather boring. I may be a caught up in the extreme beer trend, but this was just not aggressive enough. For what it was, it was pretty good though.

On-tap at various locations around Columbia, MO.

Pours a nearly opaque lemon-yellow color with a one-finger white head. The head recedes into a thin pancake on top leaving light lacing.

Smells of grassy wheat with hints of clove but almost nothing else.

Tastes similar to how it smells. Grassy flavors up front are mellowed about a bit by wheat twang. As with the smell, mild clove flavors are present but only in short supply. Ending is mildly dry.

Mouthfeel is good. It has a nice thickness with active carbonation.

Drinkability is alright. As I indicated above, I had a few of these throughout my stay in Columbia and enjoyed them all well enough.

Overall this is a wheat beer that's not that bad but it's also not that good. Not a bad option overall.

(Served in a Weizen glass)

A- This beer has a bright yellow body with a very slight hazy and a very solid yeast cake in the bottom of the bottle. The mass of big bubbles race to the surface to support a bubbly snow-white head that last a bit before fading to a thin film.

S- This beer has a very light clean smell with a slight tart note and a hint of wheat.

T- The light pale malt flavor has a hint of raw grain and a finish of noble hops. There is a very light tartness to the malt flavor but not much other depth.

M- This beer has a medium-light mouthfeel and most of that is due to the fizz.

D- This beer is light and boring with not much interesting going on. It does have qualities that would appeal to a BMC drinker and nothing about this beer would be considered offense.
