Poured from a bottle into a pint glass.
Bully! Porter was one of the earliest porters I had that I enjoyed, so it will always have a special place in my heart...and liver. I first encountered this around 2 years or so ago and I occasionally pick one up or a six pack, but before reviewing this one I've abstained from the Bully! for a couple months.
The pour of Bully! (imagine someone yelling that every time you read it) yielded a decent one fingers worth of head. The beers is very dark, like a porter should be (all are) and the head has a caramel color characteristic to it. The head stayed around for a couple of minutes and laced the glass. Bully! has a roasted smell, a sort of coffee characteristic. Taking a sip of this I wonder how it would taste with BBQ, probably awesome. If not the BBQ would be awesome. If you're in KC. The roasted scent of the beer is present in the flavor, roasted malts and a little hops, the coffee flavor is there as well. The mouthfeel I felt was lacking, sadly. Bully! drank a little watery, not flavor wise but more so it wasn't as thick as I'd like it to be. Because of this it becomes very drinkable for a porter, but what I like about porters is the thickness of them. I was a little saddened by that, but it's still a solid porter and one that I will purchase as long as it's made.

33cl bottle (bb 06/2014) into a tulip. Ruby brown color, three finger beige foamy head with good lacing and ok retention. Smell has roasted dark malts and coffee, on the first whiff right after pouring a citrusy fresh smell. Sweet roasted malts and dark coffee coming up on the taste, dry aftertaste with some hop bitterness and long lasting roastiness. Medium body and carbonation, creamy mouthfeel. A pleasant porter to be sipped on a cold rainy evening.
