Notes & Commercial Description:

Boulevard Pale Ale is a smooth, fruity, well-balanced beer with year-round appeal. A variety of caramel malts impart a rich flavor and amber color, while liberal use of whole hops adds zest and aroma. Pale Ale is the first beer we brewed, and continues to be a perennial favorite.

12 oz bottle into a pint glass

A - Hazy copper-orange in color with a very tall frothy (and somewhat creamy) khaki head that takes forever to dissipate. Beer is obviously bottle conditioned. Moderate carbonation visible. 3.75/5

S - Pine resin and an orange citrus (peel and fruit) are the first two notes that hit me. Biscuity, caramel malt as well as a bit of a floral note. Biscuit transforms into more of a buttered white bread aroma as the beer warms. Hoppy. 3.75/5

T - Slight caramel and white readiness to the malt. Not getting as much citrus here as I expected. The main bit of citrus that I do get is more of an orange rind. Some tartness from the citrus note. This beer tends to favor the pine and white bread notes. Pine lingers very long on the finish. Bitterness is not overstate. Bitterness is present, chiefly on the finish, but it is not overwhelming. 3.5/5

M - Finds a nice balance between heavy and light. Drying astringency on the back end that parches the tongue. Not overly carbonated, just enough to bring out the flavors. 3.5/5

O - Overall a decent Pale Ale. Not the best I've ever had but not anywhere close to the worst either. I could easily down 1 or 2 of these with dinner. 3.75/5

I am drinking this 3 months before its best by date. The nose begins with s slight tartness that quickly dissipates bringing forward caramel, light biscuit and hop notes. It pours amber with a slight haze under a white, a” fluffy, persistent cap that produces good lace. Malt and light fruits roll over the tongue to finish with a moderately bitter hop accent. It has a smooth, creamy texture, medium body, and moderate carbonation. Well balanced and easy to drink.
