I had this beer on tap in a pint glass at Finn MacCool's in Seattle.

Appearance: cloudy yellow color with a thin layer of white head which dissipated somewhat quickly. Not bad, though.

Smell: light floral aroma which works well enough for the style.

Taste: very floral and wheaty flavor which is a little chalky and minimally bitter. It's not too bad, really, but its spicing seems all wrong for a witbier.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and light, smooth mouthfeel. Again, not too bad.

Overall: this beer has some flavor flaws but other than that is pretty decent. I'd give it another try if I saw it around.

Had this on draft at the Flying Saucer in Kansas City.

Appearance is hazy yellow with a fluffy white head that stays around and leaves lacing on the side of the glass.

Smell is consistent with the witbier style. Subtle citrus notes, along with coriander and some spicy esters from the yeast. Some light malt/biscuit.

Taste is less than what the aroma foretold. Coriander is pretty heavy up front along with yeast esters, but everything else takes a backseat. I get very little citrus, although the malt pokes through better once the beer warms a bit.

Mouthfeel is creamy but finishes dry. Slight coriander notes left behind after swallowing.

This is a decent beer. The problem is that the coriander overwhelms many of the other flavors, causing the beer to be out of balance. It is refreshing, however, and very sessionable.

Had on tap at a local restaurant, reviewing from notes

A: Hazy light gold with a thin, quickly vanishing head.

S: Lemon and Coriander, yeast

T/M: Wheaty yeast flavors with a liberal amount of the lemon and coriander. Delicious crisp, carbonated finish. This beer just tastes like summer to me.

D: Very high! The low ABV make it very sesssionable while the flavors make me want to keep reaching for another. This is a cool style of summer beer- of of my favorites.

Draught: This one pours a hazy, cloudy golden color. There was a small white head on mine. The aroma is nice. There are notes of banana, wheat, yeast, breadiness, some spices. The taste is along the same lines. This one has a slightly creamy body. Overall, this is a pretty decent Wit. It was especially nice to find a decent beer at a Royals game.

Pale cloudy yellow with a sizeable airy head. Not much lacing.

Smells of spices and citrus peels.

Tastes of citrus, pepper, maybe some corriander, and mild hops.

Smooth and easy to drink, but a little too light. It's not bad though and is a bit refreshing.

I have the luxury of drinking Boulevard on tap, since I live in Kansas City, and it is readily available around here. This beer is best on tap, I feel, as I have tried it both in the bottle and from the keg, and the draft version is much more lively. If you do try it from the bottle, make sure to swirl that last inch from the bottom before pouring it into your glass.

That said, the appearance is average, with even a heavy pour leaving a little finger high head that leaves very quickly. Some spotty lacing, but it's gone quickly too. Smell is not overpowering, bits of orange, coriander and yeast coming through. This beer is best served very, very cold, also. As it warms, the yeastiness becomes more prevalent (and the beer loses it's subtlety to the overwhelming yeast) .

Taste is like summertime in a bottle! Very light on the palate, goes down easy. Soft on the mouthfeel, and very drinkable, not too heavy on the alcohol. I can knock back several of these and not feel too full or too hammered.

Kudos to Boulevard!! If you are ever in the Kansas City area, take the tour! www.blvdbeer.com

Like the wheat, this brew comes to you with a bright yellow color and white foamy head. The aroma is quite tangy with a greater hint of banana than the German wheat. The flavor is a bit lighter than the German wheat, but still tasty and refreshing. There is a quick latent hop bitter bite. Not my favorite white, but a very good representation.

Zon pours a bright cloudy golden color with a small non lacing head. There is a citrus like aroma with a lot of yeasty notes. The taste is full of citrus, mainly lemon notes, lots of yeasty like flavors, and good Belgian candy notes, good wheat like backbone. Drinkable, good body, and drinkable. Overall a nice drinkable and refreshing witbier.

Taste: mild grainy malt presence with orange, coriander, pepper, some banana, and a moderate bitterness.

Overall: a very easy to drink witbier. Refreshing and hits the spot on a warm day.

Sampled on 9/7/13. Chilled down to 36 degrees in my beer cooler and served in a pilsner glass.. Pours a hazy orange/yellow with a small white head. Some lacing is seen. Average carbonation but not overly done. The aroma is of mostly grains, wheat and coriander. The coriander really is the first thing you taste with a hint of citrus with a slight 'hoppy' aftertaste.

Soft, cloudy, yellow body with a rich, creamy white head. Aroma of old, wet grass and some citrus tones. Soft, wheat-like grain flavor offset with a zesty citrus note throughout; slightly bitter. Medium-light body; soft effervescence; clean and dry.

An overall satisfying summer ale. Nothing mind-boggling, no new trends established. Just a solid, tasty witbier, very suitable for the dog days of summer...

Poured into snifter.

A Hazy yellow/orange. Thin white head fades and leaves a pencil lacing. No foam down the glass.

S Herbs. Banana. Clove. Light grains. Some hops.

T Spicy clove. Banana. Malty and caramely. Peppery finish.

M Light, but a little oozy for the style. No stickiness.

O Good Summertimer. Nothing stands out. Might be a little rich for really hot days, relatively speaking. It's good, not great.

Bottle poured into an English pint.

A - The brew pots a hazy dark yellow with about a finger of head. It definitely is light in color and prepares you for the freshness that follows.

S - The smell is definitely citrus and zesty. It almost smells a bit funky/farmhouse-y. I might even think there was some Brett in it.

T - This is an extremely easy drinker -- and that isn't a bad thing. While this isn't complex, it delivers on what it is supposed to bring. It is a simple sessionable beer that is great for those really warm days. If it were being compared to a double IPA, then it would taste bland. But for what it's aiming for, I give it a solid 4.

M - The mouth feel is extremely refreshing. It reminds me of a nice lemonade on a hot day. The finish is dry.

O - This is one of my favorite beers for the summer. If I'm looking for something to drink where I don't have to concentrate, then this is it.

Trying the ZON for the first time in awhile. I found this in the reduced price bin at Binny's. The beer pours a pee cloudy yellow with almost no head and no lace. The scent carries wisps of spice and lemon citrus. The taste follows the scent fairly closely. Some decent bitterness with good balanced sweet belgium style malt. The mouthfeel is lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall its OK....good fro warmer summer months.

Got this in a custom 6-pack from World Market.
Poured from a bottle into a chalice.

A - Hazy yellow, like freshly squeezed lemon juice.

S - A hint of orange, but nothing else.

T - Very light taste, maybe some citrus flavor, but not much.

M - Carbonated and easy to drink with little to no aftertaste.

Summary - Not very good overall. It's really not much of a beer. It's too light and flavorless to be a Witbier. I'm not getting this one again. Glad I didn't get a 6-pack.

Starting the 2,118th installment of beer reviews with this witbier from the city of KC. Best by 11/15/12 is printed above the label. On to the beer:

The stereotypical looks of a witbier. Cloudy, super pale yellow body crossing into white, and a sturdish inch thick head on the pour. Creamy strokes of lace cling around the glass. But not to be outdone, the aroma matches that of the stereotypical witbier as well. Soft, spicy nose, creamy of wheat, dash of citrus....it's too bad summer is over, but I can pretend it still is.

A little lighter in taste than I was expecting, yet still is tasty enough and remains very refreshing. Coriandor hits first before gentle orange notes slide into play. The spice kicks up in the aftertaste. Subtle grassy hop note brings a slight bitterness. The beer is light bodied, slight creaminess at points, with moderate yet active carbonation.

Right on the mark per style. ZÔN is an obvious choice for those hot Midwestern summer days.

12 oz bottle from boulevard's 12 pack sampler pack poured into pint glass.

A: cloudy golden straw yellow, 1 finger creamy off white head that slowly fades, some initial lacing, bubbles from carbonation, some yeast in bottom.

S: clove dominates the nose up front, banana, mild lemon and orange peel scent.

M: light and slightly watery, some carbonation

T: clove hits the tongue first, coriander, followed by banana, slight wateriness, lemon tartness, orange peel at the end

O: I really enjoyed this boulevard selection, will drink again.

Big thanks to FTowne for this bottle...

A: Pours a cloudy light straw with one full finger of pure white head. The foam settles pretty quickly, leaving a tin right around the edges of the glass. There is just a bit of lacing as it drinks.

S: The nose is banana, cracked wheat, and slight orange peel. It smells good. Light and refreshing.

T: It starts off light with mild banana and a touch of clove. As it moves to the middle, the banana picks up a bit and mixes with some juicy citrus. Some spice begins to take hold in the finish, where the banana comes on strong.

M: Light bodied beer. This beer is pretty par for the course when it comes to wheat beers. Light, refreshing, flavorful, and super drinkable. Nothing lingers for longer than it is supposed to.

O: Solid beer. It's a good wheat beer and would be perfect on hot summer days. The flavors are nice, but nothing about this beer really stands out. I would have liked a bit more clove punch and maybe some stronger banana esters. But overall, I dig it. I'd drink it again if it was around, but I don't see myself buying a whole lot of it.

A-Cloudy bright yellow orange, well carbonated with a light two finger head.

S-Lots of clove, banana and wheat. Along with some lemon.

T-A let down from the nose. Clove, banana and wheat flavors are still there but not as strong. No bitterness.

M-Light, highly carbonation and borderline crisp.

O-An easy drinking summer beer, it smells great but the rest of the beer doesn't hold up.
