12oz bottle poured into a pint glass
Pours nicely copper expected in Marzen style. Decent head and lacing.
Aroma of toasted bread and roasted nuts, with overtones of spicy sweetness.
The taste is similar in character to the nose. Smooth, toasty notes with spicy cake-like sweetnes (kinda like the crispy caramelized edges of a cake baked in a pan). German hops come through in the finish. Representative of style and only slightly metallic.
The mouthfeel is pretty full-bodied for the style. Finish is pretty dry.
Overall, this is a pretty good American Marzen. It isn't my all-time favorite but I always look forward to Boulevard's Fall seasonal.
