Saison / Farmhouse Ale |  8.50% ABV

Availability: Rotating

Notes/Commercial Description:
Saison-Brett, based on our very popular Tank 7, is assertively dry hopped, then bottle conditioned with various yeasts, including Brettanomyces, a wild strain that imparts a distinctive earthy quality. Though this farmhouse ale was given three months of bottle age prior to release, further cellaring will continue to enhance the “Brett” character, if that's what you're after.

A - Stunning. Maybe perfect for a saison. Thick, pillowy foam overflows over the glass before settling into a tower of melted marshmallow. Outstanding retention and lace. Warm orange body with a soft haze and lazy constellation of redwood sediment.

S - Soft orange creamsicle, grapefruit pith, lemon zest, thyme, dandelion, leather, sweet wood, and a touch of vanilla. Smells like spring.

T - Orange zest, honey, plant stems, green wood, grass, white bread, light black pepper, seltzer. Soft, light, and well balanced.

M - Spot on. Brisk, refreshing, soft, smooth, medium frame.

O - Outstanding. This beer is everything that a saison should be.

A - Gold, cloudy, voluminous white head has good retention and lace.

S/T - Brett heavy, for sure. Earthy funk, chamomile, lavender, lilac, underlying lemon candy sweetness.

M - Light body, crisp, clean finish, slightly tart.

O - Delicious, brett is pretty strong, maybe it could be balanced a little more with a touch more bitterness.

Hazy orange with several fingers head that stubornly recedes.

Smells of slight funk, a little peachy. A little spice as well.

Tastes yeasty, barnyardy, oranges, pears, apple cider vinagar. Finishes nice and dry.

Lively carbonation with a medium mouthfeel.

Overall very good but would like to age longer to let the brett take over a bit more.

750ml corked bottle, bottled on 3/2013 best by 2/2015

served into a Boulevard tulip glass.

Pours a murky orange color with a massive white head. extremely carbonated. Smell is of citrus fruits and is quite pronounced. Very pleasant and appealing aroma on this one. Taste is intriguing. Its definitely very dry and completely unoffensive. Its bitter on the front with a tad of fruitiness on the backend. A lot of yeast present. This is much more of a brett than a saison. Easy to drink, medium bodied with very high carbonation.

Overall i dig this one, but its not a favorite. Glad to have tried it.

Poured from a bottle into a snifter

A - Absolutely beautiful golden orange with a massive 3-4 finger white head. Unbelievable retention and lacing.

S - Barnyard funk, brett, citrus notes such as lemon zest, as well as some floral notes.

T - Very similar to the nose. Brett makes a huge appearance in this beer (as the name would suggest), as well as phenomenal dry hopped citrus qualities that are to die for. A superb representation of the style.

M - Like most of the smokestack series this one has quite a lot of carbonation. Smooth and refreshing and finishes nice and dry.

O - This is the best saison I've had. Boulevard smokestack series have never done me wrong and this one is my favorite offering out of them all! I really ought to age one of these bad boys for a year or two next time I see it on the shelves.
