Notes/Commercial Description:
”Do you know what dwells in a glass?” asks Ole, in Hans Christian Andersen's The Watchman of the Tower. Better known for stories such as The Little Mermaid, Andersen wrote this short, cautionary tale for a somewhat older audience. Our quadrupel ale, also meant for the mature connoisseur, is a deep and mysterious libation, dark auburn and full-bodied, its sweetness deceptive. A: Dark and cloudy auburn orange with a off white head with tons of tiny bubbles. Decent retention and lacing.

S: Figs, dates and apricots right away. A bit of molasses sweetness. Rich carmel malts and some dark nutty bread.

T: Tons of malty sweetness. Lots of dark fruits (raisins, prunes and dates come to mind). Ripe red apples. Dark bread, a bit of spice and hopiness near the finish. Sweetness is all the way through.

M: Medium to fuller body. Active carbonation with lots of little bubbles, but it still feels fairly smooth.

O: Can't tell its 10.5%. Decent drinkability for a quad. Not my favorite style, but this is a pretty good interpretation for an american brewery though it is lacking in complexity.

Like what? Trappist-style ales seem simplified to me, but the tangy yeasts and bready mouthfuls of flavor in this bronson are smooth despite the 10.5% alcohol. Really impressed with this number, even considering the enormous amount of decent trappist ales out there. Fantastic beer that I look to make a staple of my summer Tour de France viewing libation menu.

Poured bottle best by 2/14/16 into tulip glass

A-Deep amber color with a fluffy beige head. Great lacing!

S-Big sweet nose of candi sugar, plum, and yeast.

T-Sweet caramel flavors with more sugar, white raisins, plum, some yeast and lots of blooming alcohol.

M-Well balance and well carbonated.

O-Overall a great example of a Trappist quad. Will get some more.
