Poured from the bottle into a Westvleteren Chalice glass. Oh come on now lets get decadent you know it!
A quite interesting orange body. Slightly opaque with a bit of a glow to it also, real nice edges of red. Head is creamy light mocha brown, not much staying power, but solid. Pretty nice looking beer in this chalice.
A real nice bouquet. Solid malts with a sweetness just like grape. Hints of dark bread, and airy whispy grain. Slightly brown sugary and a controlled dose of heat. A pretty solid smelling quad and one that seems on point so far.
Palate hits with a real mix and balanced flavor. Sweet malts, and Belgian like sucrose sensations. Controlled heat, and booze but not overpowering. A slight hint of tonic quinine like character but very subtle on the finish. Body comes in fairly solid, but minor depth and a little carbonated. Malt action comes in nicely and makes some bread and fruitcake character also. A little peppery on the finish too, interesting.
Overall though this is a solid quad and worth trying if this is your style. Doesn't come off too boozy either, but quite right to fit.

Pours a very nice dark apricot color with a generous head and the classic spicy Belgian aroma.
Taste definitely picks up on dates/dark candied fruit with an even amount of spice to balance it out.
I enjoyed this beer very much...i would classify it as an Ommegang's little brother or sister- solidly good for the style, but not the best I've had.
I would try another Boulevard beer for sure though.
