Notes/Commercial Description:
Lately it occurs to us that if, back in 1989, you planned on starting a brewery in the back of your carpentry shop, you'd been wise to seek out someone like Harold “Trip” Hogue. A collector of ancient Volvos, Trip was well qualified for the make-do engineering required to coax recalcitrant equipment out of retirement and into making the first Boulevard beers. Today, he is our longest-tenured employee. We offer this rich, golden Tripel in grateful tribute to dedication, everywhere.

Picked up a 750ml bottle from Central Park Liquors in Steamboat Springs, CO for $8.49. Batch 12123 best by 02-2013.

Beer poured golden with a huge 2 finger white head that is long lasting.

Nose is light fruits; pear, banana, and apple are prevelant.

Taste is predominately apple and pear, with a nice peppery dry finish.

Mouthfeel is delightful, light and effervescent, smooth and refreshing despite the high abv.

Overall this is a very nice tripel. Glad i had the opportunity to try a Boulevard brew as they have a pretty good reputation which i am happy to say is confirmed!

A - Pours with a big, two and a half finger head of white foam on top of a perfectly clear, golden body. The rocky head settles slowly and leaves good lace on the glass.

S - Bready malt with yeasty notes of clove, vanilla, pear, and red apple.

T - Rich, thick malt up front, notes of red apple, vanilla, and pear. Some spicy hops in the middle and a finish of anise, pear, pineapple, clove, and cake.

M - Medium-thick body, high carbonation, and a fairly dry finish.

D - Really nice. This tripel has a complexity and depth of flavor that one almost never sees in American brewed examples of the style. Very drinkable and very well done.

Boulevard Long Strange Triple

Appearance: amber, large billowing head, and some decent lacing.

Smell: yeasty floralness with a hint of lemon.

Taste: yeast, light toffee, and a light lemon-hop finish.

Mouthfeel: medium-light and smooth.

Overall:
This is a good brew that is easily drank. It is very smooth and almost light. Hops are very light in taste.

Bottle ordered from JustPour, poured into Duvel glass...

Appearance: Golden straw color, clear with a lot of effervescence. HUGE creamy white head that lingers for a long time. Excellent lacing throughout.

Smell: Bubblegum and candy, light fruits. Amazing.

Taste: Sweet candi sugar, light fruits, spices. Have I died and gone to beer heaven?

Mouthfeel: Light creamy texture with light carbonation and a slight alcohol burn.

Overall: EXCELLENT beer at a decent price and readily available.

Batch # T12123

P:  A clear shimmering golden body of furious effervescence and crowned with an off white cloud of weightless creamy head. Retention is great and leaves walls of of creamy lacing.

S:  Sweet candy sugar, bubblegum, peach taffy, powdery yeast, sweet bursts of alcohol, thick sweet malt base, spices, traces of mint, white grapes, sweet apples, banana, pears. Sweet and malty but a very balanced aroma.

T/M:  Creamy and aggressively carbonated creating a nice dryness.
Taste is more muted than the nose and delivers a peppery, cinnamon alcohol sting surrounded by a wave of juicy bubblegum.  Fruit really showcases the balanced sweetness and hosts a fantastic base for the herbal and fruit rind hop bitterness.

O:  I can't believe I waited so long to try this. Every time I saw it in the store I would start to grab it but decided not to.  This was well worth the wait. The rich candy and fruit mixed with the subtle bitterness all in a creamy succulent body.  And given  ABV the alcohol is very well hidden.  This is by far an outstanding Triple.  Another satisfying smokestack.

Ordered this through Just Pour. Never had it before and i wasn't disappointed. This was a nice triple. Good taste, nice color and mouth feel. Alcohol was strong on this beer, but it was overpowering. I will definitely order it again. I need to check this place out when I go to Missouri....

750mL bottle poured into a weizen glass.

A: Pours a golden amber shade with fantastic color quality. The body is a little lighter near the bottom of the glass, with prevalent trails of carbonation throughout. The head is a four finger white color with a thin texture and lowish retention. As the head recedes, spotty clumps of lace are left on the glass. Becomes quite hazy once more of the yeast is poured in, while little floaties sink to the bottom.

S: There are quite a bit of varying tropical fruits, but not in a hop-driven manner. Notes of banana, apricot, papaya, and mango exist on the nose, with a heaping helping of candied sugar and some malt. Just a nice smelling beer in general.

T: I kind of feared it would be overly sweet (always a precaution I have with tripels), but it's quite neutral, in a good way. Tropical fruits open up the flavor profile nicely, before becoming fairly malty, with augmenting yeast giving it a flavor reminiscent of banana bread. Gradually, the initial light sweetness transforms into a pleasant bitterness, with a kiss of finishing phenols; while some herbs and spices (coriander, thyme, rosemary) appear between the mid-taste and finish. Once the beer opens up, a nicely subtle hop profile appears, helping to augment the light bitterness without harming the overall (solid) balance. It's not ultra complex, but at the same time, it's hardly simple.

M: Not as carbonated as the fizzy-looking body may suggest, which I like. Carbonation is still moderately high, but at least it isn't making me insanely gassy. It could stand to be a little lighter in body, though, especially near the finish, where it becomes thicker in texture. The yeast imparts a pleasant lingering aftertaste (not too bitter or sweet) without being too astringent and dry, while the alcohol becomes very hard to detect when its colder. Let it reach room temperature, however, and it will become faintly boozy - nothing that detracts, however.

O: Any high-gravity monster of a beer that I can polish off an entire 750mL bottle (with the proper amount of time and patience) of has to be damn good. By no means is it a chugger, but goddamnit it's Friday, so by God I'm drinking this whole bottle by myself! Boulevard did a great job with this one, and I'd gladly pick up again in the mood.
