Like many American burgs, our town was once home to a number of small, regional breweries. As they disappeared, so too went the full-flavored but easy drinking classic American lager. Today, we salute these bygone breweries and revive their legacy with Boulevard KC Pils: 100% malt, real hop character, unpasteurized. It’s the taste of tradition.

Had this beer from tap poured into a shaker pint. Clear yellow color with thin white head, decent lacing. Sweet corn smell and taste. Grassy and honey. Bit too sweet for me.

Poured from a 12oz bottle

On the pour a nice 2 finger white fluffy head forms on a golden straw body with lots of carbonation.

Aroma is a touch sweet and corny. A touch of bittering hop comes through, but there might be a touch of diacetyl going on here. Mostly clean but not perfect.

Taste is drinkable but follows the nose. Not perfect and arguably a bit boring. Slight off flavor.

Feel is very carbonated but drinkable. Light body with a medium finish. Unfortunately despite the lightness there is a slight syrupy feel.

Overall I expected a bit more malty crispness out of this beer, but something seems like it's going on. Not bad but a bit too sweet and yeasty.

12oz bottle with a best by date of 21NOV2022, opened on 10-21-22.
2 finger stark white head with fantastic retention, slowly recedes and leaves behind tons of sticky lace. Bright golden body with great clarity. Hay and clay, light sulfur and a faint whiff of grassy hops. A bit grainy with a malt sweetness in the flavor and a floral/apple note in the finish. Light body with medium carbonation and a bit thin in the mouthfeel, moderate length finish with some lingering sweetness. Good.

Appearance: Pours a clear, medium golden color with a full and foamy white head. SRM of 8. (4.00)

Aroma: Mild aromas. Some light grass followed by zesty citrus and some grape smoothness on the backend (3.50)

Flavor: Mild flavors of grass, citrus, and grape. A little bit of yeastiness in the middle with some pale malts and light bread to follow. (3.75)

Feel: Lighter-bodied. Mild carbonation. Relatively clean and dry. A mild fruit astringency lingers. (3.50)

Compared to Pacifico Cerveza 10/31/20: Pours a similar color. Stronger fruit on the aroma & flavor. More grape and grass. Less pale malt and cracker.

Overall: A light and pretty easy drinking pilsner. Mild grassy hops and some grape flavors make it lean like a Kolsch. I think it could use more malt and carbonation to give it more of a pilsner flavor. Not a fantastic pilsner, but one that might be worth trying again sometime. (Current Rating: 3.63)

I gave this beer a second try after trying this beer about a year and a half ago, and I'm glad I did.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle: Pours a honey gold like color with about a 1 finger soap bubble like head, minimal lacing, and a moderate amount of carbonation. A biscuity malty aroma is present but thats about all I can pick up. A first taste detects the same notes with a slight hops undertone. Crisp, and easy drinking with a 4.8% ABV, and light to medium body. I'd definitely reccomend giving it a try if you have the opportunity.

This stuff is boring and expensive. Tastes more or less like budweiser and its $8.99 a sixpack. KC Rip off Lager would be a better name. Buy Czechvar, Lagunitas czech pils, Ayinger Pils, Flensburger Pils, Firestone Walker Pivo, or Sierra Nevada Nooner but please dont waste your money on this.

Pours a clear golden-straw with a finger of white foam that disappears quickly Aroma is light, hitting just notes of pilsner malts and yeast. Flavor profile is pilsner malt, light herbal hops, and yeast. It's straight beer for those seeking a no frills beer. Mouth feel is crisp with a medium consistency. Overall, straight forward beer for people who like beer. Not much depth to it, but it does it well.

Served in a 12oz snifter from a 12oz can.
