Note: 2011 vintage
Appearance: Medium amber, cloudy, pours with a foamy, off-white head - nice head retention, leaves some nice streaks
Smell: Bourbon, booze, cherries, with some malts - a bit different than anticipated - wood, bourbon, and dry alcohol - dry, tart cherry skins - cooked, caramelized malts - perhaps a bit overcooked - some dark fruits
Taste: Hot booze and a load of other flavors - Jack Dagnels, wood, and dry, hot alcohol - cooked, grainy, caramelized malts - malty, but somewhat lacking depth - burnt candi sugar, with some malty sweetness - dark fruits, fruit skins - lightly bitter, with some vague Belgian qualities
Mouthfeel: Medium to full body, nicely smooth but a lot of alcohol
Overall: Interesting, but where's the barbeque sauce?
Bourbon plus a quad? In the case of this beer, the bourbon elements seem to overpower the quad elements. This is not particularly bad, but it's not particularly good. The notes of cherry are interesting. Overall, a bit boozy.

Poured from a 22 oz bottle into an oversized wine glass. Head starts out as fizzy on the initial pour, but quickly settles into a large fluffy tan head. Deep amber-brown body.
Some cherry and a lot of bourbon in the nose, with typical quad notes lurking in the background. Definitely some alcohol present in the nose as well.
Tastes wonderful and exactly how you would expect. Definitely a quad backbone with bourbon and cherry vanilla floating on top. Some pepperiness, probably from the higher ABV.
Mouth seems a pinch thin, but swirling in the glass helps.
A really great beer, enjoying the last night in our current house. Lots of memories here, and this beer will be one of them.
