Sampling cellar temp bottle in a snifter, part of my winnings from last season EPL champion. The beer pours a clear mahogany with frothy eggshell white head of 2 cm fading to an edge layer.
Aroma is heavy with bourbon, and vanilla, a bit of brown sugar and lots of dark fruit, plums and red grapes. A little bit of booze sneaks in on some whiffs. Very complex and enticing nose.
First sip reveals an average body with smooth silky texture that does leave a little stickyness on my lips after each sip. Carbonation is medium and rolling.
Flavor is malty and robust, hits of bourbon start me off and sweet brown sugar mixes. Some candied sugar quad notes roll in for the finish and there are some light hits of fruit scattered throughout. Finish does dry a little, but a sweet bourbon flavor also coats my palate.
The beer is pretty big and robust but doesnt give off a lot of heat IMO. Quite a nice mix of bourbon and quad. I wish I had another of these tasty treats floating around!

Bottle 2013, aged 1 year. Pours a light colored head, at least four-fingers, gone fast, medium lacing. Color of the beer is lighter than most quads, amber and medium dark Carmel tones..the smell is Carmel, and malt, with some fruity hints. Taste is Carmel, vanilla, and candied sugar, with hints of pecan. Light body for the style which makes the mouthfeel pleasant for such a strong abv. Overall really good, just not great. Simple profile for the style. Age on this bottle, and the way Otha's smoothed out, makes me think this one could go much longer and do well. Pair with dessert, sweeter-dishes, beef, venison, red-meat..cheese pairing would be Gouda, cow's milk cheeses.
