Notes/Commercial Description:
Boulevard Single-Wide I.P.A. is our take on a style that originated in 18th century Great Britain. This American version—inspired by our Smokestack Series Double-Wide I.P.A.—boasts a heady combination of six varieties of hops, some of which were employed for dry-hopping.

Pours a nice orange copper color, Clear although bottle conditioned, but very fresh less then 3 weeks out the brewery, nice lacing, 2 fingers white head

Smell is a ton of orange, mango, tangerine... nice floral notes, pine, biscuit, almost a orange jelly aroma on toast, lemon, grapefruit, bread, caramel

Taste is well very impressive for the ABV... Orange on bread is the first thing that comes to mind. Pineapple, biscuit, toffee, mango, bread, tangerine, pine needle and a hint of grapefruit bitterness

Mouthfeel is medium light, high carbonation, dry finish, lingering bitterness

I LOVE this beer, low ABV sessionable and flavorable.... I do not understand the need for a session IPA when beers like this are around at 5.7 and this kind of flavor... At 10.99 a 12 pack I do not know why I do not grab this more.... if I find it this fresh I will that is for sure!

This brew was poured from the bottle into our Hop City pint glasses. It shows a farmy goldenrod coloring, sporting a two and a half finger tall head of foamy, soapy bubbles, showing nice retention into spotted, honeycomb lacing. No haze or sediment is noted, and carbonation appears in discrete streams of bubbles throughout the liquid. The aroma is fresh, with notes of aloe vera, raw honey grit, hops of herbal, grapefruity, and grassy varietals, white sugar, agave cloy, bitter lemon rind, vanilla and almond extracts, plastic phenols, pale toasty malts, nutmeg, and ground garlic powder spice. With warmth comes a deeper, dirtier earthen hop, bubblegum esters, light adjuncty white flour graininess, and lemon house cleaner. Our first impression is that this is a clean and easy drinking brew, with bright-enough hoppy freshness to keep us interested throughout. The taste begins with lemon, grapefruit, and orange rind and juiciness, herbal freshness of fern stalk and leaf, coppery metallics, phenolic plastics, wet cheesecloth, and pale toasty grain. The middle hits with maple and white sugars, citric and grassy hop bite, light essence of cinnamon and black breakfast tea tannins, watered vanilla sweetness, and powdery strawberry wafers. The end comes washing through with mineral water, resiny hop oils of grapefruit and herb, torched caramel and pale malts, vegetal zucchini and herbal fresh leafiness, and a crumbling waxy dryness. The aftertaste breathes of caramel, pale, and raw barley maltiness, board chalk, granite and slate, cheddar cheese musk, dust, strawberry and light plum fruitiness, perfumed phenols, and clean grassy hops. The body is lightly medium, and the carbonation is medium. Cream and froth are okay, while slurp, smack, and pop are much more decent. The mouth is left wet and satiated, with a tight astringent pucker. The abv is appropriate, and the beer drinks back rather quickly.

Overall, the best thing about this brew is its taste. For a “single” beer this guy sure packs the flavoring into every corner of the sip. In this sense it keeps up with many of its competitors, as your standard IPA, these days, is as big and bold as ever, hiding nothing in the way of oily, hoppy bitterness. This really helps to hold the rest of the fabric of the beer together, keeping the aroma in check, and actively justifying a lighter mouthfeel. If we had the time and the fortitude we could sip back on these all day, and will certainly be wishing Boulevard fell within our home state’s distribution net come the spring and summer months.
