Notes/Commercial Description:
Boulevard Single-Wide I.P.A. is our take on a style that originated in 18th century Great Britain. This American version—inspired by our Smokestack Series Double-Wide I.P.A.—boasts a heady combination of six varieties of hops, some of which were employed for dry-hopping.

Pours a gold orange with a medium white lasting head. Aroma is some floral pine hops notes upfront slowly mellowing to a citrus orange fruity essence, caramel malt sweetness. Flavor same as aroma sweet caramel malt with moderate citrus grapefruit hops bitterness. A medium body, smooth, good carbonation on the palate. Finishes with a good caramel malt sweetness, there some orange marmalade like fruitiness, with a citrusy grapefruit bitterness for balance. Overall a tasty and pleasant drinking IPA.

This is a solid IPA that gave rise to some of Boulevard's newer offerings. It doesn't taste ridiculously hoppy, which is a good thing in my book, even though the IBUs are toward the upper limit of what I can handle. It's pretty smooth considering that, and if I was more into IPAs I'd probably experiment with the spinoffs of this beer as well.

A - Pours a hazy golden orange with a large sturdy white head. Lots of foamy lacing.

S - Aromas of piney resinous hops, grapefruit, and orange.

T - The flavor has a nice mixture of piney hops and citrus (orange, grapefruit, anna lemon). The is a light malt backbone balancing out the flavors. The finish has some resinous hop bitterness.

M - Light bodied with medium carbonation. Very crisp prickly mouthfeel.

O - This was a decent IPA. Very crisp and easy drinking with a good mixture of hops and citrus.

APPEARANCE: Bright orange with a fair amount of haze. The head is consists of the entire spectrum of bubbles from almost microscopic to the size of a nail head and it is stark white. The retention is also quite solid, as it is still intact and about a half-inch thick after three sips.

SMELL: A very nice floral aroma with mint and pine notes.

TASTE: Big grassy notes are cut by some sweeter, tropical fruit flavors up front, followed by more bitter citrus at the end. A hint of the mint is still noticeable on the palate as well.

MOUTHFEEL: Semi-sweet to start, very dry, crisp and clean finish. The Single-Wide is medium bodied, but leans towards the lighter side. Again, very clean finish.

OVERALL: The hops are not overly aggressive in this beer, which is a nice change of pace for an American IPA. This is a real easy drinker, and at 5.7%, knocking back a few at a time is no problem. Excellent porch beer.
