Boulevard Single-Wide I.P.A. is our take on a style that originated in 18th century Great Britain. This American version—inspired by our Smokestack Series Double-Wide I.P.A.—boasts a heady combination of six varieties of hops, some of which were employed for dry-hopping.

The best by date on this bottle is 29 Jun so some of the strong hop characteristics will have faded a bit.

The beer pours out into a Duvel glass a lightly hazed apricot color with a frothy 1" white head that slowly recedes to a ring around the glass and a thin layer of foam on the liquid with some irregular islands of foam. Sipping leaves patches, speckles and a few legs of lacing, some of which run back down to the liquid.

The aroma has a bit of grapefruit, some tangerine and orange along with malty sweetness.

The flavors are much as expected from the nose with citric fruits, including grapefruit, orange and tangerine. The bitterness is very much in the back ground as the sweetness of the malt recedes to leave the impression of dryness that invites another sip.

The mouthfeel is on the light side of medium and has some very light faint carbonation. The finish begins in fruity sweetness about half way through and early on gradually becomes dry as the malt faces leaving only light dry bitterness in the background.

This is a nice IPA which I'm enjoying drinking and I'd be fine with having it again, particularly since it is gentle on the tongue and would make a good IPA to serve to guests who don't care for strongly bittered beers. (1,257 characters)

This is a cloudy, hazy, orange-golden brew. The head is white and thin, and the smell is very hoppy. Spice, pine, and a little citrus. The taste is dryish, with some fruit and lots of hops. Bitterness comes in the foretaste, with a little malt to balance. Medium in body and fairly drinkable. (297 characters)

This beer is just on the hoppy side of life. It is crisp with some short lived bitterness. It has a citrus a pine nose and tastes of barley, honey, straw, citrus and pine. It pours a sparkling golden hue with a large slightly off-white head. (241 characters)

Solid IPA from opening sip to the last drop. Golden and slightly hazey look. Clean taste with a semi citrus finish. Somewhat of a lighter feel than that of its brethren. Great IPA to start with for newbies to the hop centric style. (231 characters)

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 7/19/2015. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy golden yellow color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, mango, melon, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, light caramel, toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of bright citrus/tropical hops and light-moderate bready malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, mango, melon, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, light caramel, toasted bread and floral/grassy earthiness. Good amount of pine/citrus rind bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, mango, melon, lemon/orange peel, pine, light caramel, toasted bread and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity and robustness of bright citrus/tropical hops and light-moderate bready malt flavors; with a nice crisp malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, crisp, and moderately sticky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice IPA. All around great complexity and balance of bright citrus/tropical/piney hops and light-moderate bready malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering. (1,569 characters)

Golden body big bubbly white head that looks like it will stick
big citrus aroma is that Citra? With a slight pungent wacky baccy note too
This has a lovely flavour, starts with lemon & hints of mandarin, goes through to cheesecake base maltiness then warms to a lasting bitter finish
The let down is mouth feel, it feels wishy washy & watery, no real substance to back up a lot of big flavour
Nice looking ale, big aroma, fantastic big but balanced flavour let down by mouthfeel but still I like this, I like it a lot. (519 characters)

I am always picking up something I haven't tried. I'm glad I happened on to this one. Starts out real clean ( one of the type you would like to crack open on a 90 degree day) and leaves you with a nice hoppy aroma. I enjoyed this beer start to finish and very little question remained after I was done with a couple. Easy drinking IPA that satisfies my IPA cravings. (373 characters)

Looks like an IPA. Smells like an IPA. Tastes like an IPA. Maybe a little harsh for the lowish ABV. Very generic IPA. Can't really say anything bad, but I wouldn't get it again. (177 characters)

The people at Boulevard are cocksuckers. This is one of the first IPAs I ever enjoyed. It's a classic to me and one that everybody should try. I've never had it on tap but that would be much better. This was poured from a fresh bottle into a claret glass. Here we go.

Look: The color is pure gold like clover honey. They head is off white and consists of small bubbles. Lacing is apparent down the glass as I drink.

Smell: A lovely sweet floral aroma prevails but with undertones of malty goodness. The classic biscuity malt character is harmonious with tropical and fruity hops.

Taste: Slightly bitter tropical fruit hops and a touch of peach play partner to equally present malt backbone that is well balanced.

Feel: Smooth, crisp, and full all at the same time. It is dry at the end with a bit of lingering from the hop terpenes. Mild astringency is also present but fleeting.

Overall: This is the best beer Boulevard manages to produce year round, and like all of their beers it has extremely weak ABV but possess definite quality. This is a beginner's IPA. Oh, and fuck Boulevard. They are as much craft beer as Blue Moon. I can't wait for them to eat dirt. (1,169 characters)

Bright, clean, refreshing and easy going down! Very pleased to have this after a tough day. A bit watery in the mouthfeel but not to much to complain about here. Not a stunner but very good indeed! (197 characters)

Terrific, golden appearance with a rocky, white head. Good carbonation. Aroma of piney hops with some citrus in the background. Some wheat and bready malts. Taste of hops, wheat and malt. Nothing special. Medium mouthfeel. Good bitterness. Finishes dry. Overall, a solid IPA. A bit run-of-the-mill, but enjoyable.

I don't like IPAs but always trying different beers. Smell is great; dandelion and grapefruit. No bitter IPA aftertaste but is watered down. Color is gold; almost perfect. (172 characters)

A dark yellow-orange brew shines bright and displays complete clarity. The head is just off-white, moderately sized, with good retention and lace stretching out on the glass.
The aroma is lots of grapefruit with some lemon and grapefruit rind. Otherwise, there's a bit of dry malts and some flowery notes.
In the flavor, the hops are big on citrus, downright juicy in the middle, but with a touch of salty rind on the end. Bitterness makes a good show but lots of balance, and zest is this beer's main feature.
The body is medium, and it's got some nice bite. It runs medium dry and doesn't give up clean for smooth. It lingers with a nice bitter dryness. (660 characters)

A great looking IPA. Beautiful golden honey in color with a thick white head. For a two month old bottle, the smell and taste of the hops were moderate, yet pleasant. Very floral with some melon. Easy drinking, for sure. (224 characters)

Finger of fluffy white head on a golden amber body. Clear and carbonated. Spiegelau letting this one breathe and bubble. Super fresh too. Some lemon and generic bitterness on the nose, bit of a resiny, dank note. A savory note in there too. Nice and balanced on the palate, bitterness on the front, smooth, slightly spicy yeast note know background. Almost a lager like finish on this one. Smooth as can be. This is different. Mouthfeel is unbeatable. I could easily quaff more than one of these under the right circumstances. (526 characters)

This is a really well executed hop forward IPA. This one has minimal malt backbone in order to really let the hops shine.

Would purchase again if in the mood for a hop forward IPA. (181 characters)

Here goes:

A: Clear, yellow-orange with some solid particles floating in solution. Pours an OK head with good lacing.

S: Very simple and muted - just OK. Very grassy/floral.

T: Rather simple, but not bad. Some pine, but the majority of the hops are very herbally and floral. Very little malt.

F: Good - well carbonated, crisp and refreshing.

O: A solid beer. (372 characters)

One of my favorite go to IPAs. Pours golden amber with a soft white head that retreats rapidly to a thin film of bubbles. Very balanced nose lending slightly to hops, but a good sweet malt undercurrent rounds out and invites a sip. Tastes are bold hops, citrus, but heavy pine notes take the heavy handed approach. The taste buds are assaulted gently in the way a good drinkable IPA should be. (393 characters)

My first Boulevard beer. Sixer acquired all were poured into pint glasses.
The appearance was a nice looking hazy orange color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within less than a minute. Light lacing strings about the glass.
The smell had a sharp crisp sweet citrus with a nice light back up of bitter pine to combine really nicely.
The taste is pure bittersweet bliss. How this combines is quite good to me. There's a light crisp sweet citrus aftertaste and a dry finish.
The mouthfeel had a light to medium bodied sessionability that finishes with a stellar carbonation running about pummeling my taste buds into submission.
Overall, hot damn, where did this come from? Are all Boulevard beers this good? (724 characters)

12 oz bottle, best by 06/07/2015. That's being generous. Bottled on 11/07/2014, just under a month old.

A: Clear golden body. 2 fingers of head when I poured it. OK retention.

S: Smells pretty nice. Not a huge hop bomb, but solid notes of citrus and pine. The dry-hop works wells.

T: Hop flavors are nice, not a ton of bitterness coming through. Light bready malt backbone that reminds me of Boulevard's other beers.

M: Good carbonation. Soft. This one is pretty low ABV for an IPA and the alcohol is undetectable.

O: I've always liked this beer. And it stands up pretty well. $6.99/sixer is an excellent price, and finding it fresh is always a plus. (666 characters)

From a 12 oz. bottle into a standard pint glass. Pours a light, clear coppery-orange . A nice 1 finger head persists along with Boulevard's trademark carbonation that leads to bubbles rising from the bottom of the glass. The aroma is grassy and herbal with subtle hints of pine and citrus. Up front, there is plenty of excellent hop flavor composed predominantly of herbal/floral, pine, grapefruit, orange and lemon peel. Although any citrus is only hinted at the end. There is not much malt presence to speak of, and this really places this brew in the pale ale category. However, a slightly warming salty bread flavor presents itself briefly. The mouth feel overall is light and definitely not dry. This one reminds me of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale quite a bit, as both both are not known for malt presence. The difference being the hop profiles. SN is more pine while SW is herbal and floral. Very tasty! (903 characters)

Citrus, grass, herbs and fruit on the nose with traces of graham cracker. A creamy fruity palate somewhere between plum and melon is supported by a nutty graham cracker malt backbone lightly sweetened with caramel that finishes with a citrusy bitter hop finish. The yeast, malt and hop flavors are well balanced. Medium body with fine soft carbonation. Very drinkable. (368 characters)

Best by 03/14/15. Consumed 11/05/14 in a spiegelau ipa glass.

(3.65) A: Pale orange with a good clarity reveals a slow, steady rate of effervesce of medium density. A sloppy pour produced a monstrous 2 inch eggshell white colored head with a surprising rate of retention. Sloppy, spotty, soapy lace.

(3.40) S: Aroma was light in factor, dry pine orange, hard to get a good sense beneath the stubborn head.

(3.65) T: Flavor was dry citrus-whole wheat grain, dry pine hopping. Dry orange peel and grapefruit skin. Flowery with a good rate of dry hopping and warming flowery finish.

(3.60) M: Crisp carbonation and mouthful, doughy-wheat body.

(3.65) O: a good social ipa on par with the pop-up with a little more ummph and dry hopping that lingers a bit. (763 characters)
