Notes/Commercial Description:
Boulevard Single-Wide I.P.A. is our take on a style that originated in 18th century Great Britain. This American version—inspired by our Smokestack Series Double-Wide I.P.A.—boasts a heady combination of six varieties of hops, some of which were employed for dry-hopping.

12 oz bottle was poured into a pint glass.

Appearance: The beer poured a one finger head that has reduced now to a thin layer and left some lacing on the glass. It is a pale golden yellow with some haziness and visions of carbonation coming up through the glass.

Smell: Faint citrus and grapefruit aroma with some bready and sweet malts in the background.

Taste: Same as above with lingering bitterness. Really was expecting a more cleaner finish, but still alright. Good to see a nice citrus feel to the beer.

Mouthfeel: smooth, medium to high carbonation, full bodied, some lingering bitterness, and somewhat of a slightly dry finish to it.

Overall: Interesting. I have had the Double Wide several times and was expecting a toned down version of it. Slightly dissapointed, but still an a decent IPA.

A-Pours a cloudy glowing honey color. Head starts out quite fluffy but it dies down to a concave layer of foam. It does lace heavily. Nice looking brew.

S-Lighter nose of clementine hops, florals and even some stone fruits. Malt is light and bready. Fairly subdued.

T-Flavor is also quite light. Clementine flesh and flower petals. Clean finish of caramel and graham crackers. Grainy. Finishes with light, grassy bitterness. Extremely clean for an IPA.

M-Very light. One of the most sessionable IPAs I remember having. Light, light dryness. Body is very airy and incredibly easy to put back.

O/D-It lacks assertiveness, hop complexity and a strong finish. Yet this beer's pros outweigh its cons. It is a stalwart of sessionability. A true session IPA with more than enough flavor to keep my interest. Well balanced and crisp. I enjoyed it considerably more than their Double Wide IPA. Just a nice beer, at a reasonable price that knows its place in the pecking order and fills its niche. Not a bad buy.

Poured from a month-old bottle into a pint glass. What a strange beer.

Pours a slightly hazy straw with a foamy white head, 2 fingers but settling quickly. Nice rings of lacing.

Smells pretty interesting. For one, the citrus is quite strong and overpowering, typical of an American IPA. Belgian yeasts and honey kick in pretty strong at the end with a hint of...saffron? as it drinks. Smells great nonetheless.

Tastes like it smells, although with more emphasis on the honey. Hits the palate with both sweet malts and citrus, transitioning into honey and ending with a pleasant bitterness - combination of citrus and a small amount of pine and lavender. I'd like to see more hop or malt profile and less honey here. Smaller sips result in less bitter finish with considerably more balanced bready/ricy malt at end.

MF is pretty typical. On the lighter side in body. Ever-so-slightly overcarbonated. Slight (pleasant) alcohol sensation.

Overall, not a bad beer from a brewery I had never heard of. I wouldn't seek it out - I'd rather have a Belgian IPA if I'm looking for a twist on my favorite style - but I'd definitely try it again.

A: Slightly Hazy Orange Honey light amber, bit fluffy head. Great webbing, head stays, Boulevard has the best lacing.

S: Bright Grapefruit/tropical sweetness, slight honey maltiness.

T: Grapefruit citrus lime hop flavors up front, honey/caramel sweetness in middle, finish is more pine/floral. Pretty crisp, a tad mild.

M: High Carbonation, light in body/thin. More of a session IPA.

O: A bit underwhelming but a decent session brew. Nice hop flavors, not a real hop fix but a good summer ipa or introduction for macro drinkers. Boulevard crushes lacing.

Used tulip glass. Pours 1.5-2.0 finger off-white head.

Body color is hazy amber-orange. Nice lacing.

Aroma has earthy tones plus malt/baked bread plus a little citrus. Mostly earthy aroma w/some grass.

Taste of mouthful starts out hoppy, then comes the malt and after taste changes between hops and malt. I did not catch citrus taste until 3-4 mouthfuls and then it was up front and not very strong.

Body is medium to light. Has more taste than most ales that are on the lighter side.

Overall, not a bad choice if you are out for a "light" tasting IPA reasonably priced. Not in the class of a top IPA but close. At 5.7 ABV, this one shouldn't sneak up on you!!!! Very drinkable. I'll have it again when I can find it since it's not available locally.
