Notes/Commercial Description:
They say there are two sides to every story, and that’s certainly true of Two Jokers Double-Wit. On the one hand, it’s a revival of the classic Belgian “wit,” or “white” ale, with lactic fermentation providing a refreshing tartness. On the other hand, it’s a modern, uniquely American brew; big, flavorful, and spiced with cardamom, coriander, orange peel, lavender, and grains of paradise.

Poured at Cork & Cask, Cornelius NC...

Really neat beast... pours golden with sticky lacing. Loads of spice in the nose and in the taste, coriander and zest heaped upon a thin wheat backbone. Then there's the lacto-funk, which really makes this brew interesting. I just reviewed NoDa's Gose... it could've used some of this complexity. Neat brew.

Had on draft at Max's on Broadway

A-Pours hazy orange with big, quickly settling white head and minimal lace.

S-Aroma is big citrus, lavender and cardamom.

T-Refreshing citrus flavor that is mildly tart with coriander and orange and also a wheat finish.

M-Soft carbonation, light body, and smooth texture.

O-Overall a very nice and refreshing wit beer. Would get some more.

Poured from the bottle into a tulip glass, forgoing the Hoegarden witbier glass of yore. Good solid pop off the cork.

A real nice deep apricot orange, with peach yellow highlights. Nice small rising carbonation in the middle with a soapy ring and soapy two finger head that settles quickly. This body color is very unique and impressive for a wit, really beautiful, really like it.

What a unique bouquet on this beer. Huge amounts of mint and peppermint candy like aromas. Spiced clove and sweet nutmeg like qualities. Spicy spicy SPICY! Zesty lemon and great herbality. This is large, not overly sweet either, unique, and real impressive.

Palate is real surprising too. Tart juice apricot and orange flavors, on a real soft chewy malt body with a bit of give and wetness to it. Mint action washes but stays away from sweetening things up too much. Lots of brown and warm spiced finish on the aftertaste, complimenting the mild tart aromas, almost with a winter warmer like quality.

What an interesting take on a heavily spiced witbier, they really showed off on this one.

Hazy yellow pour with a one-finger white head. Very nice citrus, lemon and yeast aroma. Excellent lemony tart flavor upfront with a nice tropical fruit edge. Light body has a strong spice presence with flavors of coriander and clove standing out. Also, has very light hints of grain and yeast. Finishes tart, juicy and refreshing.

Appearance:
Bright but cloudy orange body. Thick, fluffy white head. Plenty of carbonation. Little to no lacing and retention is a bit lacking. Nice legs, however.

Aroma:
Incredibly tart, sweet, and jam-packed full of coriander! Lavender and pepper add a very unique overtone to this brew. Light malt and citrus character.

Taste:
Tart right up front. Plenty of spicing (mostly coriander, lavender, and pepper) pack a tasty punch while you're thirst is quenched by sweet, tropical citrus fruit. Where's the alcohol - this one has less bite than a Miller Lite. Ginger shines through as it warms.

Mouthfeel:
Bubbly and incredibly light. Smooth and tart. Sweet, clean finish.

Overall:
Simply awesome. This ranks up there with Tank 7 as my favorite beer from my favorite brewery from Missouri. If you see it, grab it, and you'll be blown away!
