When was the last time I had a Boulevard beer? I honestly can't remember. So, I guess it's been too long. Another hot day in Texas, and that's an understatement, means I need a good, flavorful, yet very drinkable/lighter beer. Recently I've been drinking saisons so Boulevard's Tank 7 Farmhouse Ale caught my eye.
First off, I like the bottle design as well as the label. They both have a sort of classic look too them. Not too flashy. Simply yet elegant. Anyway, the Tank 7 looks lovely. The head grows thick, three fingers, foamy, and is white. It leaves plenty of lacing on the glass. The beer is a golden-amber color, a bit cloudy, and there is plenty of particulates all in it that float around in a cycle because the carbonation make it float to the top and them fall to the bottom.
This is called a farmhouse ale and it definitely smells like a farmhouse. Straw, sweet grass, yeast, and pepper all make themselves known. Booze comes out as well. It smells very floral.
I have to say, this is a damn tasty brew. There a bit of bitterness on the front from hops but then the yeast comes through, adding in cracker notes. It's a bit peppery too. Later on comes a delicious sweetness like white grape or grapefruit. An alcohol warmth shows up at the end but doesn't overpower at all. Great flavors without being too bold. It's sweet but not too sweet.
Tank 7 is medium-bodied is a bit creamy but then the medium-high carbonation comes through and gives it life. Sweetness makes it a bit sticky and drinkability is high.
You know,I really enjoy this beer. Everything was great in every category. Lovely look, interesting smell, delicious taste, and agreeable mouthfeel. I highly recommend it.

This beer should be served at a slightly higher temprature than you would the normal lager beers. This allows the fruity flavors to come forward. There is also a slight hop aroma to this beer, and served cool, it is easier to notice. The main aroma are complex, some fruits and bananas, but also a spicy note. The taste is dry, you get some of the fruitiness. The body is very light. Easy to dring despite being 8.5 % ABV.
