Picked this up from Whole Foods in Austin, TX while on vacation. It had a best by date of 07-2014, so I'm thinking it's pretty fresh. I poured into a chalice and enjoyed thoroughly.
Appearance - I gave as aggressive pour as this carbonated beer would allow for, eventually becoming about a 2" foamy head or so, with carbonation lacing along the sides of the glass.
Smell - An overwhelming smell of lemongrass and brett funkiness pervades my nostrils. It is nice and very much in the Saison style.
Taste - The taste is pretty subtle and balanced but nothing really stands out. I get that dry, Saison like aftertaste. The brett funk stands out (if I'm identifying that correctly). Also, I get a nice sweetness as it sits on the tongue mid-sip, that may be the lemongrass.
Mouthfeel- Nice carbonation, not overkill, substantial but not over the top for a Saison. Quite nice.
Overall - This beer is great and I like what is going on with it, it isn't too dry or overpowering in one respect compared to any other Saison attributes. Nice.
