P: Pours a beautiful gold with mass amounts of floating yeast adorned with a full finger of frothy white head.
Retention is good.
S: Fresh grapefruits, apricots, lemon, floral and spicy. Timid funk and rose alcohol.
T/M: Taste follows the nose with a bigger alcohol flavor, aged oak, and aggressive coriander, black pepper and a touch of cayenne in the back of the throat. Finish starts wet then gradually dries with acidic citrus, white grapes and wood lingering on the palate.
O: Stellar offering from Boulevard. This is a definite "go to beer" for this style. The alcohol could be a little too aggressive but is complimented well enough not to ruin it. I could drink this all the time and would of the wife would allow it.

This saison swings more toward the French style. Greater clarity than the Belgian type. Good bitterness, perhaps about 50 to 60 IBUs, with a mild Goldings nose and some more citrusy type of hop, like Columbus. Good hop complement to the more orange citrus profile of what I'm guessing is a French saison yeast, like Wyeast 3711. Sweet start and sweet finish, no tartness or barnyard funk, saved from stickiness by the high bitterness levels. Also, a bit of alcohol on the finish. Thick, long-lasting head. Generally refreshing as a strong French saison should be.
