Poured out of a 12 oz bottle into a Smokestack tulip glass.
Appearance - Body is a brilliant golden color, with the haze allowing light to filter through giving straw highlights and hints of amber. Head is thick and sticky, with nice lacing and a pronounced residue as the head slowly dissipates.
Smell - Light floral notes hover on top of an underlying barnyard funk. Suggestion of brett, although I don't think this beer uses any. Citrus fruit, perhaps grapefruit and lemon zest. This smell is intoxicating and balanced--it really speaks to me.
Taste - Yeasty, bready funk with grass. Subtle hop bitterness with a permeating bite from the spice and alcohol. Maybe some white pepper as well. Also, something reminds me of whipped egg whites, almost like an unsweetened meringue.
Mouthfeel - Pleasant and refreshing but with good body. Very drinkable, in spite of it's relatively high alcohol content.
Overall one of my favorite beers to drink. It's bright enough to be refreshing in hotter weather, but still has enough body and heft to it to make it a solid drink in colder weather as well. If I had to be stranded with only one type of beer to drink ever, for the rest of my life, Tank 7 might be that beer.
