A: Dark gold color, quickly generates head too much for my small tulip glass as I've gotten used to dead beers. Finger thick head remains for a while, lacing sticks to the side. Sediment is suspended throughout and constantly rising streams of carbonation.
S: Grapefruit is most distinct, but a bit of spice is detectable. Was a very pleasantly smooth aroma, no sharpness or off smells.
T: Matches the smell. Grapefruit again most recognizable. Some spicy bitterness but mild, lingering just enough to notice. The high ABV is not noticable unless you are keen to it or are really looking for it. Some other things come and go in the middle of it all but its quick and somewhat difficult to pin down, but its good.
M: Again matching the aroma it goes down smoothly, nicely coating everything showing its generous malt.
O: This is easily a favorite, outstanding in every category. Not strictly a classic Belgian farmhouse / saison but in the ballpark and standing comfortably on its own. Very easy going, keeps your attention with interesting things when you want, stays out of your way if you want. I would have liked something else to stand out besides grapefruit, only thing stopping perfect scores. Good saison in 12oz bottles is hard to find. Pricey, but you get what you pay for here.

This saison swings more toward the French style. Greater clarity than the Belgian type. Good bitterness, perhaps about 50 to 60 IBUs, with a mild Goldings nose and some more citrusy type of hop, like Columbus. Good hop complement to the more orange citrus profile of what I'm guessing is a French saison yeast, like Wyeast 3711. Sweet start and sweet finish, no tartness or barnyard funk, saved from stickiness by the high bitterness levels. Also, a bit of alcohol on the finish. Thick, long-lasting head. Generally refreshing as a strong French saison should be.
