I got this as a Christmas present from my sister. It was 1 of 4 beers that came in a Boulevard "smokestack series" gift pack. Each 12oz bottle has a clearly stamped best before date on it. This bottle is stamped 5/22/14, so it's plenty fresh. Served in a Boulevard tulip glass that comes with the set.
Be careful with the pour. Even with a slow tilted pour, the beer rises quickly to the top, making a 3-finger fluffy white head with just half the bottle poured in. The beer itself was a slightly hazed straw yellow color. Head retention was good as was the lacing.
The beer had a citrus, pine, and Belgian yeast smell to it.
The taste was hop foreword with grapefruit and mild pine flavor dominating, but with plenty of sweet malt for balance. The website says they also brew this with corn flakes, but I really didn't pick up much corn grain taste - if anything there was a touch of wheat in it. Peppery finish.
Light bodied but very spritzy with high carbonation.
It's a well made saison, but I'm not sure I'd give it world class status.
