Poured 12oz bottle labeled best by 8/2/14 into New Belguim globe
A-Pours hazy gold with a large frothy white head that dissipates to a quarter finger. Little lacing.
S-Aroma of citrus notes, grapefruit, tropical hops and spice pepper.
T-Spicy, complex notes of grapefruit, tropical hops, bread, and allspice
M-Clean crisp finish. Complex and well balanced low carbonation sweet on the front of tongue and dry and peppery on the back.
O-awesome farmhouse ale by boulevard must try some the other smokestack. Had some taleggio cheese paired with it, awesome!

This saison swings more toward the French style. Greater clarity than the Belgian type. Good bitterness, perhaps about 50 to 60 IBUs, with a mild Goldings nose and some more citrusy type of hop, like Columbus. Good hop complement to the more orange citrus profile of what I'm guessing is a French saison yeast, like Wyeast 3711. Sweet start and sweet finish, no tartness or barnyard funk, saved from stickiness by the high bitterness levels. Also, a bit of alcohol on the finish. Thick, long-lasting head. Generally refreshing as a strong French saison should be.
