Notes/Commercial Description:
Most breweries have at least one piece of equipment that’s just a bit persnickity. Here at Boulevard we have fermenter number seven, the black sheep of our cellar family. Ironically, when our brewers were experimenting with variations on a traditional Belgian-style farmhouse ale, the perfect combination of elements came together in that very vessel. You could call it fate, but they called it Tank 7, and so it is. Beginning with a big surge of fruity aromatics and grapefruit-hoppy notes, the flavor of this complex, straw-colored ale tapers off to a peppery, dry finish.

P:  Pours a beautiful gold with mass amounts of floating yeast adorned with a full finger of frothy white head.
Retention is good.

S:  Fresh grapefruits, apricots, lemon, floral and spicy. Timid funk and rose alcohol.

T/M:  Taste follows the nose with a bigger alcohol flavor, aged oak,  and aggressive coriander, black pepper and a touch of cayenne in the back of the throat.  Finish starts wet then gradually dries with acidic citrus, white grapes and wood lingering on the palate.

O:  Stellar offering from Boulevard. This is a definite "go to beer" for this style. The alcohol could be a little too aggressive but is complimented well enough not to ruin it. I could drink this all the time and would of the wife would allow it.

750 ml bottle served in a snifter.

pours a golden-yellow tone with a bit of haze, yields a big, almost 3" head that dissipates to a lasting 1" or so. solid lacing. great looking saison. really good nose on this one. herbal, fruity notes with a lot of spice and just a touch of funk.

flavor mostly follows the nose. citrus (grapefruit, lemon), spice, and the herbal quality headline the show. while perhaps not truly spectacular, this is very tasty. medium-bodied mouth feel with some lively carbonation.

overall, a pretty fantastic saison. boulevard has proven a welcome edition to the boston market. looking forward to exploring more of their offerings.

Taste: Bread and honey with hops notes of grapefruit, apricot, and floral with hints of pepper.
Texture: Crisp with a dry finish, good carbonation.

Poured from the bottle into a tulip glass.

A real nice buttery shining lemon gold, wit nice rising carbonation on a classic rocky white head. Clumpy and lacing with soapy retention. Orb glowing with hues and bulbs of light in places, great looking brew.

Real wondeful light floral sense, slight malty dry grain backbone to it. Sort of an interesting non diacetyl butter angle to this too, graden green fresh. Very solid and nice.

A very refreshing brew. Palate hits solidly with a good malt almost Belgian tripel feel. Finishes semi dry with a mix of honey sweetness and floral aftertastes. Carbonation seems just about right to cut through the palate making it interesting. Faint pepper like finish somewhat.

Overall a real solid saison. This brewery makes some pretty solid beer.

A - A very clear straw-yellow, with pillowy snow white head supported by the streaming carbonation from the etching in the bottom of the glass. The foam is positively chunky and it's leaving heavy lacing as it very slowly recedes.

S - The smell is pretty subtle... bready malt with a bit of sweet fruitiness and maybe some lemony tartness.

T - Pleasantly sour-apple tart, with some fruity esters and a touch of funk, over a simple but well-done malt backbone.

M - Relatively thin mouthfeel. The prickly carbonation plays quite well with the tart apple.

Overall, this is quite good. It would be tasty any day, but it really hits the spot on this hot, humid, summer evening. I wish this were more easily accessible in my neck of the woods.
