Notes/Commercial Description:
Most breweries have at least one piece of equipment that’s just a bit persnickity. Here at Boulevard we have fermenter number seven, the black sheep of our cellar family. Ironically, when our brewers were experimenting with variations on a traditional Belgian-style farmhouse ale, the perfect combination of elements came together in that very vessel. You could call it fate, but they called it Tank 7, and so it is. Beginning with a big surge of fruity aromatics and grapefruit-hoppy notes, the flavor of this complex, straw-colored ale tapers off to a peppery, dry finish.

Mostly hazy golden yellow under a properly large, thick, fluffy head. Peppery Belgian yeast, zesty grapefruit, fruity tartness, herbs, and grass. Quite a bit hoppier in the mouth...bright, spicy, juicy citrus working very well with the yeast. Dry, fruity esters, subtle pale malt sweetness, and some grassy/flowery hops to back the citrus. Medium bodied and remarkably refreshing for its strength. I'd go ahead and stick this one in the "Belgian IPA" category. Bright and snappy...this beer pulls off the hop/yeast balance very well.

A: Pours a slightly hazy glowing golden color with a monster of a cream colored head. Takes forever to subside and leaves some faint lacing.

S: The smell is far from overpowering, but it's pretty incredible. Earthy, peppery, floral and citrusy all at once. Faint candied mango, orange peel, barnyard funk and white pepper.

T: A bit of a peppery hop bite comes through first with some smooth light bready malt flavors carrying it. Grapefruit zest, a touch of grass, chalky yeast and a smooth finish with notes of lemon zest and pepper. A pretty remarkable saison and probably the best I've had short of Dupont and Fantome.

First saison and highly impressed. This is an instant "go to" beer and I literally went out and bought some more. Light and refreshing, hoppy, citrusy, nice sour notes, great color. Some spice notes of clove(?). Dry on the finish. Slight acidity with no aftertaste - very clean. Maybe some fruitiness - almost an apple or maybe white wine grape, nice green notes (like good olive oil) in the nose, not so much in the taste but enough to perk up the taste buds. Loved it, looking forward to trying others in this style, but also wondering why...got a good one with Tank 7!

I got an opportunity to pour this saison/farmhouse ale beer into my snifter glasses directly from 12 fl oz bottle. There was a hazy yellow with big white head. Its smell is more yeasty and citrusy. Its flavor is quite nice even though it shows a long dry bright finish. It is also fresh, fruity, and very drinkable. Very good saison/farmhouse ale to cheer up with someone else who is avid of saison style.

Pours clear golden with a persistent 2-3 fingers of loose, white foam. Leaves gobs of lace. Smells like a classic Saison, sweet grain with clay, malts, plenty of yeast character, a bit of lemon and hay. Middle of the road nose. Tastes like it's got some band aids in it, a good light malt backbone with some seltzer notes, a good amount of early bitterness, some metallic hints and a little vinous overtures. Medium bodied with tight, sharp and excessive carb. A thick, wet finish. Not a bad beer, but nothing I'm inclined to appraise or seek out. A great intro to the middle of the road for an interested party.

A: Golden tangerine colored, just clear enough to see millions of tiny rising bubbles, and a big toppling slightly peach colored foamy head.

S: Tangy wheat, lemon, black pepper, sweet light malt, flowers, candy orange... Pretty fun to smell.

T: Taste is bright and refreshing. A lot of happy flavors. Lemony candy and other tart citrus, chewy bready malt and wheat malt. Light bitterness.

M: A little syrupy, a little grainy, and smooth in general.

O: Good beer. A refreshing kind of dessert beer.
