Notes/Commercial Description:
Most breweries have at least one piece of equipment that’s just a bit persnickity. Here at Boulevard we have fermenter number seven, the black sheep of our cellar family. Ironically, when our brewers were experimenting with variations on a traditional Belgian-style farmhouse ale, the perfect combination of elements came together in that very vessel. You could call it fate, but they called it Tank 7, and so it is. Beginning with a big surge of fruity aromatics and grapefruit-hoppy notes, the flavor of this complex, straw-colored ale tapers off to a peppery, dry finish.

pours a thick straw golden color with a fading lace head into a snifter. would never guess this to be 8%. smells yeasty and fully fruity. taste is robust ripe sweet full flavored fruit. plums, apples, berries, all blooming in the mouth. yeast backbone and a hop presence in the middle. problem with this one is the mouthfeel. way way too heavy and filling for the style, i should be able to session this. as filling as my bbq ribs i ate with this. heavy feeling bust still properly carbonated. i liked it, but as with many of boulevard's beers, there are 50 better alternatives per style.

P: 12 fl oz bottle in to a globe glass.

A: SRM is pale/straw yellow. Pours cloudy. Head is off white, puffy, 1.5 in, dissipates to line the top of the beer. Medium carbonation. Light lacing.

S: Farmhouse funk is very up front. Notes of belgian yeast/light banana, light fruit, and spice (corriander?).

T: Classic farmhouse/saison flavor. Light fruit tones and flavor fromt the yeast strain. Hops are mild and balanced. Aftertaste is light spice and malt. A touch of alcohol is noticable.

M: Medium body. The flavor of this beer coats the palate evenly and sits lightly. MF is reflective of this. Finishes a little wet.

O: Excellent saison. I can see why so many people recommend this beer when introducing noobs to craft beer. Fantastically balanced. Would go for one of these anytime.

Appearance- very nice, great white lacing, head white foamy and hangs around most the duration. Color was a clean haze of yellow/orange. THE smell is just not good. Overwhelmed with a grassy "farmhouse" odor, and someone using a lemon fresh deoderizer to cover up the bitterness. THE tast is what I would imagine furniture polish tasting like, (*&($& pledge). The ABV may be too much, I dont know....but sip was hard to finish. Im truly sorry because Im a huge fan of Boulevard...wont willingly grab this again.

A: The beer itself is straw-yellow, with a subtle orange tint, and brilliantly clear. The yeast, however, does not sediment well and unless I leave several ounces behind some "chunks" make their way into the glass. Effervescent carbonation, with a pillowy white head and excellent retention/lacing.

S: "Barnyard funk" is up front, with some fruitiness behind it. Maybe a hint of alcohol sweetness helping to prop up the fruit.

T: Clean malt flavor, with lots of citrus and tropical fruits. Compared with the aroma, the funkiness is rather subdued, but complementary. A nice lingering hop bitterness, with some alcohol heat in the finish.

M: Dry, with lots of crisp carbonation.

Overall, the yeast flocs are a bit off-putting, but otherwise this hits all the high points of an American-style Saison.

A- Poured from a 12oz bottle into a Boulevard tulip... starts with a huge white rocky head with good retention and lacing. Beer is gold in color, very active, with lots of fine sediment in it

S- Slight hop aroma with some sweet orange citrus notes

T- Light sweetness with a funky hoppy backbone. Sweetness seems to come out more in the finish

M- Light body with light/medium carbonation

O- Another enjoyable offering from Blvd. Wish these bottles were more easily attainable as they would make regular appearances in my refrigerator

CHEERS!
