Bottle shared by myself at Curran's tasting.
Pours a hazy slightly dark brown, with a half inch head, and a little bit of lacing.
Smells like spicey rye, caramel, coconut, wood, toffee, and whisky.
The taste is similar. This is about a year old, the '13 vintage, so the rye whiskey flavors are light, subtle, and warming, with tons of caramel, toffee, coconut, and vanilla, with some fairly prominent woodiness. Even though rum is not involved at all, I get a bit of a spiced rum feel from this one as well.
Medium bodied, slightly creamy mouthfeel. There is some slight bitterness, but it doesn't linger. The alcohol is not really present at all.
I'd prefer this beer to be a little drier, and use more rye malts, but other than that, this is a fairly decadent, delicious beer.
